With this new requirement I've ventured into some of the other forums more deliberately. It's been fun, enlightening, and educational.
I'm glad this new rule has people checking out the rest of the lounge.
There's such a wealth of information and great people who are eager to share their knowledge.

I know this thread applies to selling - but on the buying side, only engaging with the classifieds to score deals from generous and active members without contributing elsewhere just comes across as taking advantage of the community imo.

Of course it's upto the seller to decide who they want to sell to. But it would make a big difference to me were I selling.

So, I've spent 95% of my time here on the Classifieds forum and found a lot of good sale items and content to continue supporting my education on jackets, boots, scammers, etc. With this new requirement I've ventured into some of the other forums more deliberately. It's been fun, enlightening, and educational.

Thank you for the nudge!
Me too! I’ve been a member since 2012 and I’ve only participated in buying jackets because that is what I enjoy doing. However I’ve discovered another forum about music. Another one of my hobbies so I will be over there now lol

I feel the same way.. the exclusivity part of it is exactly why I spend more time here instead of eBay.

Well, let me share what just happened to me yesterday. I made a deal on a Goodwear A-2 with aerolover. I tried to pay via PayPal several times but PayPal decline the transaction 4 time. I contacted aerolover. He suggested sending to wife's e-mail with a German address? Raised a flag because I have communicated with KBlake before, I knew he was in the Continental US. I did not know that aerolover had some history about him. I still in the dark as to the full extent of his story.

End of my story, I communicated with aerolover and informed him that I will not be buying the A-2.
Even members with solid history can sometimes be unreliable sellers? KBlake's profile has been hacked? Someone else is using his profile to list items here?
No bueno.
Always good to trust your gut. Glad you didn't go ahead with the transfer. Kblake's account was indeed hacked, but according to this post, it was restored some months ago https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/aerolover-is-not-a-scammer-account-restored.118000/

Based on your recent experience, it appears it may be hacked again? Idk.

As a newbie, there’s an inherent bootstrap issue making 20 high value posts difficult to achieve:

I can ask a question, but often it’s already been answered so no need to post. Or if I ask anyway, I might get my favorite response: There’s a search function. So it’s tough to find genuine questions to ask.

But…

I’m not an expert so can’t answer any questions. So it’s tough to find questions to answer.

What’s a newbie to do?

16 more to go…. :)
I agree with you. I suggest that part of the point is, that this site is more for collectors, and people who want to discuss what they like to wear. For example, I like to wear Langlitz gear in particular, but had I talked to someone, I might have had my tailored jacket, (and pants) made of a lighter weight of cowhide.

Do you smoke cigars? It’s fun and like minded people posting their daily cigar..
