Hello everyone
My name is Aaron I am from Ontario Canada I am a producer songwriter . I stumbled across this forum not that long ago and have been binge picture looking for the last couple of weeks and I am totally ok with that , time well spent . I mostly collect vintage Biltmore but have a few Lee hats . Thank you all for sharing your amazing hats hopefully I can share some half as good as what I have seen on here .

Welcome to the party. We'll be interested in seeing some of your Biltmores for sure, as they're not as common as some of the others we see.

Welcome to the lounge. Can you tell us a little more about the 6X Stetson? How long have you had it? Is it good in the rain. How’s it holding up?
All great hats. The Gannon was a good choice. I have heard nothing but good things about them.
Johnny
Thanks!
I like both my 6Xs. The open road is definitely thinner than the Gus, but it's a dressier hat so that's to be expected I guess. They both do well in the rain, although the open road doesn't really do much to keep you from being rained on too (which is why I got the Gus. I didn't realize just how small the brim on the open road was when I ordered it). I've only had them for a little under a year so can't speak for longevity, but my Gus is doing great with being a daily beater. The silverbelly definitely shows use (which to me was part of the charm of having silverbelly). I like that Stetson doesn't glue in their liners (at least neither of my 6Xs had glued in liners), so it's easy to just take it out in warmer weather, and slip it back in when winter hits.

Love the Gannon hat! He lived up to his reputation, and I'm very happy I found out about him through this forum! Was a big investment, and a long painful wait (I'm fairly impulsive/impatient), but was well worth it! Once I've graduated and had time to save up enough disposable cash again I think I'm going to order another hat from him in the same felt and ribbon with a 4.5" brim (and either open crown or Gus crease).

Hi folks,
I wanted to introduce myself, again. I used to post regularly on the forum about 5 years ago, but got busy with life. Things have slowed down and I'm back looking at all the great hats! A lot has changed in five years! Art's gone, Blacksheep is gone, who do you guys look to for a custom these days?
Thanks,
T

Welcome back, Tom.

Gannon is likely the most popular
Wolfbrae is a Member who started making hats a short while ago and has made several folks happy
VS is still around, but Art isn't making the hats
Of course, there's always AlleyKatHats, also a Member
Agnoulita has some regular customers around here, as well as Hornskov. Both are on Etsy
Phoenix Hats, by our Member @humanshoes, is also spoken of highly, but I think he's taking a break.
We recently started seeing posts from Garrahan Hats - he seems to make some nice items, but I don't think anybody has purchased one yet

I probably missed somebody

Welcome back.
Art retired, but VS continues under David Gibson. For customs we’re spoiled for choice these days with some great hatters. In no particular order:
Hufvud
Hornskov
Gannon
Northwest
Tatton Baird
Wolfbrae
Etc.

Blacksheep is still around but is not accepting orders til he gets his 2 year long wait list pared down. Stephen at Leon Drexler, alas, has retired though. So with Art & Stephen gone we have lost two of the great ones.

And if you're in Cincinnati, there's always Mr. Miller.

Welcome! That’s a great looking hat in your avatar photo: can you tell us about it (we love photos too).

Thanks! This hat was made by local St.Petersburg hatmaker Mr. Fedorov (Karlson Hats). I asked him to make an oldschool high crown fedora. Shaped it by myself in kinda Indy style and replaced the ribbon to a lighter one. It's approximately 14 cm high with 6,8 cm brims.

I checked out Karlson Hats webpage (using google translate) Pricing is great but it looks like the felts may be wool. I have sent an email inquiry as I would love to have a Russian beaver felt hat! My wife has purchased some of her wool prep equipment from a Nicolai in Moscow...the stuff arrived quicker than some things have from the US!

As far as I know, he uses either hair or beaver felt. But there could be some misunderstandings in terms of terminology in Russian and English. And Pavel Vasilyevich is a little absent-minded.
