I discovered the Fedora Lounge about 6 weeks ago, and have been lurking frequently ever since. I have finally taken an important step and joined, and feel I should introduce myself.
I am Troy, just as my ID states. I would like to thank the creator for building this beautiful establishment, and everyone else in the Lounge for helping to make it what it is.
I've wanted to be a hat wearer for years, but until recently did not take the plunge. At last I made the commitment and picked up a cheap discount department store paper straw fedora. I took to the hat quickly, but started to feel that it was such a cheap crummy hat I was not doing myself any justice with it.
I am an ebay user, but not knowing my hat size I was afraid to buy a vintage hat without trying it on. Shopping at a local vintage clothing store, I was told of a real hat shop about a half hour from wear I lived. I checked out the website, then made my first trip the next day. I was incredibly impressed with the shop and bought my first real hat, a straw Pinzano jet snap brim. I fell in love with the hat immediately, and I became an every single day hat wearer! This is the hat shown in my avatar.
I have since picked up a vintage Stetson Gun Club hat on ebay for a very nice price. The front of the brim was a little disfigured, and while searching for info on how to reshape the hat, I found myself at The Fedora Lounge. Thanks to some information I found here, I steamed the brim back into shape. Due to it being a very warm hat, I have only worn it a couple of times so far, but when fall comes, look out!
Two weeks ago I made a return trip to the hat shop and picked up a beautiful panama - also a Pinzano - the Broadway. If I have the code right, here's a picture of me enjoying my new hat at a Squirrel Nut Zippers show the day I bought it!

So, That's how I got to this outstanding establishment, and how I achieved my goal of being a hat wearer. I live in Western Mass, if anyone needs to know a great hat shop around here, let me know, I'll point you in the right direction. I am originally from New Hampshire, and have spent some years living in Tennessee, and Mississippi, so if anyone wants to hear about that, let me know!
Again, thank you all for the opportunity to be a member of such a grand place.
