I have just come back from swing dancing tonite and I thought it would be a good time to take a few snaps to show off my new suit. I got this suit made to measure. Some features:

Pants:
- high waisted
- double pleats
- dropped loops
- 1 7/8 cuffs
- no taper

[Sorry about the sweat marks - after a hard night of JITTERBUGGIN'!!!]

Coat:
- wide lapels
- high armholes
- skeleton lined
- nipped waist

The hat I am wearing is my Knox twenty. It was in a "car crash" recently - it blew off my head and a car drove over it and didn't even stop. I resusitated it with steam. Incidentally, the hat crown tapered in at the sides only before, but by puting in a wide diamond crease I managed to achieve the prerequisite '40s look. However, it is a lower crowned hat than I am used to.

To overcoat is a beautiful one that I picked up at Aardvarks in Pasadena, while shopping with Wildroot. It is a great buy, and I love the look. The shoes are two tone Alfred Seargents from England, a faximile of what Hemmingway Jones has.

The pants might be a wee bit long? But that's a matter of personal preference. Nice high waist, great waistband treatment. You were lucky to find someone to do those details so well.
That's an excellent looking suit! You look GREAT! And man... topping it all off with that sweet ride! WOW!

That coat - is it a nubby tweedy thing?

Yes, I am 50/50 about the lenght. They are at least an inch over the naval. A really long zipper. I think it has to do with ME strressing that detail so much with the tailor. I think I might have gone overboard - they are higher than my real vintage Hollywood waist pants!

Correct-a-mundo!
It photogaphs really well, but it took a while to get used to wearing that fabric. But now I love it. It is not like the usual tweed, but rather as you aptly described it - "nubby"!

BTW, I have worn this suit at least a dozen times since its last pressing. I is really due for a clean and a pressing now. That would sharpen the crease in the pants and make them sit a bit better on the waist with a cleaner brake. I was shattered when we took the photos, as we were out cutting a rug earlier. I have been meaning to post this ages ago along with another grey striped DB suit I had made at the same time. Yes, another v. high waisted number - they're almost dungarees, they're so high!!!

Smashing suit and ensemble Mr H

I can see you have a fine tailor and that you know how to express what you want. Those lapels are the most! Great cut and shape to the whole suit.

As for the Buick - The coolest of the cool!

Ah, there's no such thing as overboard. Most of my vintage british suits are at my second bottom rib.

Re: the length. So long as they're not touching the ground, i don't see a problem. If you want 'em shorter, maybe you can just crank the suspenders up a bit?

Absolutely BK, in fact as I mentioned earlier they were slouched down after the night out and normally there would be just one clean break at the bottom.
