An unexpectedly quick arrival at my door today, my Langlitz Cascade in their black goat with brown contrast stitching throughout. Besides the contrast stitching, I added an inside zip pocket in addition to the standard map pocket and "patch pads" to the shoulders and elbows. I also declined the option to add a snap to the collar, as they sometimes are a bother on the neck. Everything else on the jacket is their standard construction, which includes canvas pockets, underarm footballs and an action back. Scotty was terrific during the process of answering all of many questions. They are quoting an approximate 2 month wait time, but my jacket arrived 14 days after my order was confirmed. (I did use 2nd day air)
I supplied Langlitz with 11 measurements from their guide, and selected "medium" fit. (The options are Very Snug, Snug, Medium or Loose) As this is a dedicated riding jacket, I wanted room to layer including armor. They also took information on how many layers I rode in, my riding position, slope of my shoulders, the type of clothes I wore while taking the measurements, how many layers I would wear under the jacket, height, weight and shirt size. I'm very pleased with the fit.
The goat is identical to the hide on the used Cascade that I had just purchased (which will now be available for sale), already fairly supple out of the wrapper and comfortable. It shipped with a biker magazine, a tub of their conditioner in a leather pouch, a stick of zipper lubricant, Langlitz stickers and a long sleeve t-shirt that I had ordered also. This jacket fits a little looser than the other Cascade, as I couldn't layer under that one comfortably. The stitching looks very nice to my eye, the brown just gives it a little bit of subtle flair. "Patch pads" are simply an additional layer of leather, without the padding added as is traditional with quilted padding. (Just personal preference on that one) The lining is very silky in feel, making it a very easy jacket to get on and off. I didn't add a chest pocket, as many do on this model, as the shoulder pad detail was enough for me on top. I was advised by Langlitz to use the snap on the bottom of the jacket, as its design is to protect the bottom of the zipper from any strain, and not for aesthetics.
Unfortunately with the snow on the ground and frigid temps I will be wearing it to bike shows only for the time being.
