I'm new to this and would like to introduce myself.
First of all I was born in 1958 so I'm rather vintage myself. Totally thrilled to find that there are people who share my interests..well...obsessions, actually.
I'm so into vintage that it has become my whole life.
I live above the vintage fashion shop I own ,dress vintage when I can and am currently really into costume jewelry from the 40's and 50's.

looking forward to chatting to some very interesting people from what I've read so far.

A guy walks into a bar...

... and, stepping carefully between busy tables in the smoky gloom, eventually finishes up against the counter.

"Got a light, buddy?" The bartender leans over, a match flaring briefly and illuminating the matchbook as it rubs against the striker. "Fedora Lounge? Sounds good to me..."

"Whatever you say, fella. Name your poison." "Three fingers of bourbon and hold the branch water, pal," the tough-looking newcomer replies, looking over to the door as a leggy redhead sashays in, nodding in his direction.

"What did you say your name was?" The curious bartender slides a glass over. Our hero tilts back the brim of his fedora and takes a pull at his cigarette, looking steely-eyed back across the bar. "I didn't. Some call me 'Two Gun Bob'. You can call me Mister..."

-o0o-

Hi folks, my 21st century name is Stuart Williams, but you can call me Bob - Two Gun Bob... I'm new to this bar, but I hope I'll be welcome, otherwise I may have to go out in a blaze of glory :p

I'm a writer, photographer and historian living and working in England, where I was born in 1959. Over the years I've taken part in a lot of historical re-enactment, so I have an affinity for hats - everything from a Roman Legionary helmet to a Viking spectacle helm to a WWII British Army Commando beret to a Fedora, naturally.

I am a big fan of the US "Golden Era" pulp fiction writers, especially the 'Weird Tales' crowd - H.P. Lovecraft, Clark Ashton Smith, Frank Belknap Long, August Derleth and my hero Robert E. Howard, creator of 'Conan the Barbarian' - hence my handle 'Two Gun Bob' and my avatar in tribute to him. I'm also a big fan of Humphrey Bogart and his crowd, as you might expect :eusa_clap

Incidentally, I'm an Apple Mac user but I've lately developed an unreasoning lust for a pre-war Underwood No. 5 typewriter, thanks to the influence of Bob Howard. :whistling

I have some expertise in period camera equipment and fountain pens, which I collect, so if I can help, feel free to ask. I'm sure I'll learn a whole lot from all you guys and gals out there too!

Of course finding this forum just a couple of days ago I was drawn to it like a magnet. It sure looks like one great place to hang out in on the web! So here's looking at you, friends!

Hello Miss 1929 and the Ladies of the Lounge!

I am new to the Lounge. Actually it was Miss 1929's idea that I try it. I am a Vintage gal from Calif who is currently a Government Girl living in stuffy Washington, DC. It might as well be an island. When people ask me about my vintage clothing, I tell them it is a "life style choice." That generally leaves them wondering. It is good to be able to at least virtually chat with like minded girls. I generally spend my time playing records or listening to the radio in my off hours. Otherwise, DC is a far cry from the jumping vintage fun of the West Coast.

Hello Everyone! How's everyone at the Lounge today?

I really can't say much about what I do and who I represent. About all I can say is we're a vendor and we have a museum. I'm waiting to hear back from MK about a banner ad and a link exchange before I say more. Me thinks me might be breaking the rules already. Hope not.....

Hello, I'm Spaugs. Well, I am in highschool too, almost done though. I plan on going to college to train to be a mortician. I love all vintage styles, up until about the 50's. I've loved TCM movies my whole life and the more I learn about history the more I love it. I guess that's my reason for being so into vintage style. When I found this site, I jsut had to join.

Anyways... Hello all! :fing28: High-fives all around!

Hello darling! You made it at last!
I know you don't have a camera yet, so no pics, but ladies, here is what my adored friend V-Sweetheart looks like (and I am not posting it in the Observation Bar Ladies of the Lounge!):

Such a cute pic!

I am a newbie. I have always loved old Hollywood and vintage fashion. I LOVE Veronica Lake, Betty Page and Marilyn.

I am a philosophy student. A fellow student who has been introducing me to Russian film actresses has encouraged me to wear my retro clothing out on the town. She is Russian and says that all Russian women dress to the nines...therefore she thinks I should (even though I am not Russian).

I found this lounge googling for make-up tips. I love all of the comments- very helpful. ;)

It's a what????

ADHD Librarian, either your signature is missing part, or that's the joke...

Me too, BTW! It's a blessing and a curse.

Welcome everyone! Pull up a barstool and have a drink.

Don't forget to upload your picture to the Ladies of the Lounge/ Men of the Lounge threads in the Observation Bar, we want to see your style!

Hi, also new to town!
I'm 50 yrs old and totally obsessed with vintage. I live and breathe it as I live above my vintage fashion shop.
I mostly collect and wear 50's jewelry, purses, and gloves.
Even being a dealer I can't always find clothing to fit my size 16 body. I do sew and make a lot of things.
I also collect compacts. Oh, who am I kidding? I LOVE it all!
Great forum, so enjoy reading your posts and looking at your pictures. You are very stylish ladies.

Hello to new friends

Hi All,

Im Michael, I just joined and am looking forward to making some new friends here. Im in the process of moving from the Chicago Area to the Mesa area in Arizona.

For the past 15 years I was employed by a major Airline ,resigned and now am employed by an Aircraft Manufacture. Ill be located at Gateway airport soon.

Illinois has been my primary residence my entire life. I joined the USAF in 1984 and was Honorably Discharged in 1992. During my enlistment I been stationed mostly CONUS , In 1990 I was deployed to support Desert Shield/ Storm. I was a Aircraft Maintenace Specialist, ( Crew Chief) KC135 Aircraft. After my discharge I found a job with American Eagle Airlines ,this is where I was up to March of this year when I resigned and accepted a position with Embraer Aircraft. It is this position that has me moving to Mesa.

As for hobbies and intrests I filled out the Bio page with a list. I absoulutley love riding, I bought and still own my 1995 HD FXDL ,this is the only new bike Ive ever owned so far and can wait to ride in Arizona. So,any of you who live near or around Mesa, Im looking for some good places to ride to.

Mike

Greetings!!!
My name is Mike, though my friends call me Bingles (taking the nickname from Bing Crosby). I'm from Buffalo New York, and recently joined the Fedora Lounge.

Welcome! I was born in Buffalo & still have lots of family there that I never see. I may tap you later to clue me in on the vintage hot spots there (I have foggy memories of Genesee Cream Ale signs everywhere...)

Hi everyone --
I must be one of the newest people here.... I met some Loungers at the Governor's Island event this past weekend and they told me about the site. Unfortunately, I'm moving to the Chicago area in a few weeks and don't know anyone out there yet.

I love the 1920s and play drums with a 20s-style jazz band. Also make the clothes, shoes, and accessories, since I can never find anything original in good enough condition to wear out dancing.
