Hello.
My username is COOPER & BURNETT, but you can call me COOP. I was looking forward to joining, and sharing. I'm a collector. I collect many different things, anywhere from film soundtrack scores, to Miami Vice TV props and clothes, to world war II era flight jackets and hats.
I would like to share photos, and discuss flight jackets (and other things). Is there a section, or thread to also post collectables or clothes that are not golden age related?

Thank you Peacoat. I already have a Highwayman from Aero. As I lost some weight, it's a bit too large now. And the Sheene has a pattern I prefer, it's less boxy than the HWM. I can't see your image on my screen, is this a fault of mine?
Aha, just figured out what you meant. I didn't post an image and didn't notice there was one indicated until I went back to my post just now to see if I could determine why you said you couldn't see the image.

I have no idea what that is, or how it got there. I didn't post a picture, so there is nothing wrong on your end. Just something of a glitch.

Hello,
I am a new member. I live in southern NH and I enjoy the values and the style that was this era. I think pinups are the sexiest woman going. I’m looking to see if there is any woman who shares my old school values that would be interested in a long term relationship. I am a romantic hoping for the best! I thought this might be the best place to post this as everything gets talked about in the powder room.
Thank you for your time and hope to hear something,
Abe

Hello everyone.

I've been a (not very active) member here for a few years. I never really did introduce myself, so here goes.

I'm from northern New York State. I like motorcycles, guitars, jackets, boots, and hats.

Thanks for the opportunity to participate here.

Welcome to the Lounge! I think you’ll be in good company here.

Hello!
My name is Elizabeth! I found the fedora lounge by doing a Google search of people who love vintage as much as I do. I've been a lurker for years and finally made an account.
I'm a vintage housewife, a seamstress, a antique dealer, a cosmetologist and a mother.
I've been dressing 1940's vintage for 10 years now and living a stay at home housewife/mother for a year and loving it.
I currently live in a 1940's house and making it into a time capsule. I love collecting items from the 40's.
I love cooking, gardening, sewing, baking, playing the piano, listening to old radio shows, listening to big band/swing music, looking at old photos and watching 40's noir films.
Ever since I put on my first 1940's dress, makeup and hat, I never felt happier. I live everyday like it's 1940. This is me, this what I love, and I'm never going to stop doing what I love.

Hi all,

Another long-time lurker here who is finally joining.

Australian relocated to Texas. Working in Public Health Emergency Management, which keeps me very busy these days. Enjoy restoring old firearms, but trying not to turn into a collector.

I joined SF over ten years ago to research buying my first suit to get married in. Stuck around on a couple of different fora for general banter and life discussions (food, booze, travel, films, etc) , though my interests don't stretch much beyond denim, a few MTO boots (Whites, Daytons, Nick's etc) , RM Williams and rugged casual (Barbour, submarine sweaters, peacoats, etc).

I ordered a pair of Wesco engineer boots during Baker's April sale that should be arriving next week. Brown domain leather with some seriously chunk sole options (I may end-up looking like a Kiss cover-band refuge!).

I've been lurking for a while, but finally decided to join because of the leather jacket threads here. I'm thinking about buying either a Lewis 402 in brown horse or a Vanson Daredevil in Whidbey brown and I have a million questions. If I do order one, I'll also sell the brown Schott P519 I just bought and am still on the fence whether it is right for me.

Hello! This site is new to me, and I've been down the rabbit hole here a couple of days. I've been enjoying it.

I was doing some research on leather jackets and most of the write ups I found that were useful came from this site.

I grew up in a rural PA cabin that got pretty cold in the winter, so I learned the value of warm clothing and layers. (I'll spare you the 1970's walking to the bus stop up hill in the snow stories !)

I like the look of 40's vintage leather and shearling coats...and I love vintage wool sweaters, jumpers, cardigans etc. Wool feels warm to me...apparently some people think it feels itchy. lol

Glad I came across this site. I'll probably lurk much more than post, but I just wanted to say hi and give a general thanks to all for some really interesting reading.

Random tid bit related to the era, where I grew up we still had party line telephones. I know they were the norm in the 30's-40's...but we had one until around 1981 or so.

Looking forward to reading more! Cheers!

Hi folks,
I just got into leather jackets and I am excited to get one. I have been searching and reading a lot so I registered now in this forum. Located in Munich.
I fall in love with the Himel heron a1 but the whole process of paying 2k Euro for a jacket never touched is a little intimidate for me. 2k is a fortune for me. Any advise?

Furthermore I am checking classifieds threads because there is so much great stuff. I need a little advise regarding American size.
I am 185cm (6'1) and about 100kg (220lbs),
I. e. I am wearing XL in Iron Heart N1 Deck jacket and XL in supply jacket from rogue territory.
So XL should be around 44 or 46?
This supply jacket has pit to pit 22inch.
Because I see size 40 jackets in classifieds with a pit to pit 21.5inch. Size 40 should be European M or L?
I was sure size 40 isn't something for me right?
Any further advise regarding Himel bro?

Thank you guys, greetings from Germany.
J

Hey J, welcome to the forum!

As you live in Munich, how about making a little visit at the Gasoline Alley? You might at least get impressions about leathers, colors, linings and not at least sizing there.

https://www.gasolinealley.de/

Cheers

Turnip

Hey Turnip,
You are absolutely right, I ll have to go there. I was there once but on a Saturday and it was rush hour, no possibility to really dig in. Although I prefer the heron a1 over the aeromarine.
I will visit gasoline again.

Thank you.
