Hello everyone.

My name is Enrique. I live in Asturias, a wonderful region in northern Spain. I am part of a historical reenactment group of the Spanish Civil War. I am very interested in everything about the fashion of the 30s. The Spanish Civil War occurred between 1936 and 1939. I am very happy to be with you (Sorry my English is poor).

Hello everyone,
I'm Jürgen from Germany and whenever I've been searching the web for questions on clothes or shoes over the last couple of years, I somehow always found links to this really fantastic forum. So I finally decided to sign up, but I fear I won't be much of a contributor. I'll be hanging out in the background and browsing the forum, getting blown away by all those classic outfits posted here.

Hello the room!
I used to be around alot, then I got sick and changed jobs, we moved twice in 6 mos and life kind of went awry (as in a handbasket). But I am back!
I am working part-time, due to being now partially disabled (thank you bad back and macular degeneration) but my husband finally got his green card and was able to start working at a really good job, so we are doing pretty well now. (Husband is from Australia and has an IT job.)
I mostly hang out in the Ladies Lounge.
Glad to be back.

Hi all,

I'm a long time lurker but haven't posted until recently. I'm finally taking the plunge into vintage clothing. I'm working slowly but I'm finally putting a couple of outfits together.

I really like the tone of these forums; people are very respectful with each other, which is important to me.

I mostly hang out in the clothing threads.

I look forward to conversing with you.

Enrique,
You have made such an impressive entree, it is great that you have said so much about yourself. I found it fascinating that you are re-living the Spanish Revolution. Although I am Polish , The Spanish Revolution has influenced intimately POland's modern history, in lots of very complex and subtle ways. I hope you will write of your doings and so we shall have a chance of enriching each other's info.

Bellaclaire, Adam, JW, Esme - hello too. I am very new to this, so feel shy to do the honours, but I am glad there are more new people! I am really looking forward to getting to know each of you in time.

Hello all,

Since I've been lurking here for ages, it only seems appropriate to introduce myself to all of the helpful and fun people around the Lounge. Early exposure to classic movies and classic cars (being a Detroit native) sparked an interest in vintage. The 40s and 50s are my favourite eras, though I like the 30s too (and all of them, really, but I dress mostly 40s and 50s on a daily basis). The style, music, and fashion of the past is what got my attention, but now that I'm older, I appreciate the gumption, hard work, ingenuity, and general everyday wisdom of my grandparents & grandparents and their generation. My being a history buff in general does not hurt!

My hair & clothing get a lot of attention when I'm shooting classic cars (I'm a photographer)...to be honest, this has gotten me more "ins" than I can count (including invites to "oh, would you sit in my *insert fantastic car here* and let me take a picture? You're a perfect fit, you look just like the 40s!"), often with folks who are regularly pretty shy, even about their cars, so it all works out. ;)

Well, that's me. :) My husband and I share our home with an extra-large collie, a thoughtful tabby, and a troublemaking tortie. And, of course, Turner Classic Movies.

;)

Hello I am Julia and i am so pleased to have found this forum.
I am a long time vintage/historical enthusiast. I am an antique dealer who absolutely loves her job. I sew like a mad woman, constantly. I love anything and everything historical, from the civil war to the 1960's. I am very passionate about sociology, and always curious about my past. I come from a family of thrift shoppers, spent the last few years decked out like it was 1933. Old films are a never-ending source of enjoyment. Classic radio programs/tv shows are my first choice of entertainment. And my itunes are organized by the decade.
happy to meet you all!

Hello, Loungers!

I've believe I've lurked long enough, so here's my first post. I've been dressing vintage-esque for years but just got into the forties styles within the past year or two. I've been reading here for about the same amount of time. Glad to be here with all of you lovely people!

Love,
Oleander

Dear DNO,

Thank you for the warm welcome! "Oleander" is an anagram of my real name, which I thought was cool. I've not heard the song but am going to check it out.

Love,
Oleander

Hi, everyone!
My name is Jesse. I live in Oregon City, Oregon. I started collecting vintage clothes when I was 14, which was over 20 years ago, but had to sell off my collections, as I moved around (overseas, etc..). I am now building it back up, and am learning much more than I did then. Back then, I could just find 1930s clothes, such as double-breasted peak lapel suits, without having to know very much. I am here to learn, and contribute as much as I can, and enjoy the comeradery. In the early 1990s, I was already Swing dancing a little, when the resurgence came, and got swept into it, full force. I began teaching Swing dancing, and traveled the Western U.S.. At that time, I started working on my Swing ea slang dictionary, which I am STILL working on!
I am looking forward to my time on this forum :)
