Hi, Micky. Sorry to take so long to post this but my hubby was home on r and r and just went back to the Green Zone. He is a specialist too, stationed at FOB Union III. Our home is in Rochester. Welcome to the Lounge.

a growing appreciation that the golden era as discussed here is the foundation of the best of today's general professional attire, as well as an example of some manner, culture and courtesy in society which are sadly in full decline today.

Welcome, Steve. That's exactly why I'm here as well.

Hi, everyone!

I introduced myself in the Beauty forum, but I'll gladly do it again here. My name is Katie, and I live in Raleigh, NC with my wonderful husband and our two cats. We don't have any children yet but are planning to start later this summer.

I found this forum while doing a search on Pond's cold cream, and I have found a wealth of information so far. Like CherryRed, I'm sure I was born in the wrong time period. I've always been fascinated by the first half of the twentieth century, and especially love the '20's and the '40's. I can't decide if I really want to be a flapper or a war bride!

Anyway, glad to meet you all, and I look forward to reading more and getting to know everyone better.

This Lounge is a relief.. Oh, the progress that could've been made if I had something like this 5 years ago when I started to get into this sort of thing.. and the outfits that could've been avoided..

Well, I'm Kyle.. a Lindy hopping, whiskey drinking, Las Vegas native.. one of the few and proud! I am going to seminary this Fall for the Diocese of Las Vegas.. if u wish to discuss that, send me an email or a PM, since this isnt the place for such topics..

I have a knack for musicality, thrift store shopping, and falling for burlesque dancers...

Hello to all!
You'll be seein a lot of me..

Kyle

New dame on the boards

Hello. It is swell to meet people who have the same interests as I do. A dear friend of mine told me about this forum which I never knew existed or I would have been on years ago. I love vintage and have been a devout vintage junkie since I was 14 years old. I am now married and have a son. I look forward to many happy hours spent here on this forum.

Hello everyone. My name is Mildred. This is my third day on forum. It is great to be here with people who share the same love of music and films that I do.
I have been living the vintage lifestyle since I was 14 years old but I never knew there were so many people like me! It is a pleasure to discover this forum. I plan on spending many happy hours here.

I just had to stop in and say hi to the new San Diego ladies :) So, hello to Ellie and Lesvinyl (Natashia). I saw Ellie's post in the Steamer Trunk about Highway 395 and got excited there were more San Diego people here... I always wondered why there weren't many girls from my corner of the world. AZ is hogging all the vintage ladies ;)

Anyway, glad you're here ladies!

Hi Shearer! From what I can tell it seems like L.A. is the place to be. Are there many people from SD on here? I'm convinced people will end up finding this site eventually if vintage is really their passion. This is quite a lovely community of people!

Hi everyone,

I just figured I'd introduce myself. Obviously, Jefferson Smith isn't my real name, I'm just a big Capra fan. (Of course, Jimmy Stewart is my favorite actor.)

I live in Northern California, and I'm interested in all eras from 1900 to 1964 or so. (The 20 through the 50s are my favorite.) I don't wear a fedora, but I'm fond of vintage accessories and I'm interested in learning the ins and outs of dressing vintage beyond the 1950s rockabilly look. I just graduated from college and am slowly building a wardrobe using Roetzel's book as my bible.

I love vintage music (jazz, blues, early rock, country, folk, you name it) and movies. My other hobbies include photography, reading, cooking, and exercise.

I've been reading for a while now, this seems like a well-run, friendly joint. I'm sure you'll be seeing more of me.

Hi. I'm Sasky and I'm new around these 'ere parts.

I'm 18, and a law student at the University of Queensland, Down here in good old Australia.

I'm from a rural (ish) town and have recently moved to the big city. I now have a lot more shopping destinations and a new found ability to where exactly what I want without having stuff thrown at me (it's happen, believe it!)

I'm an avid sewer and vintage lover. Last year my mother and I sewed my formal gown, a strapless red silk dupion tea length dress with sweetheart neck line and red bow. I wore red silk and bowed peep toes! Ahh One of my favourite pairs of shoes ever!

I haven't done much sewing as of late, UNI having messed with those plans but as soon as exams are over (three days!) I'll be right into it. I've got patterns and fabrics lined up! (strawberry pink silk dupion a dollar a meter!)

Outside of my sewing, my uni and my internet trawling (i Found this site in the search for seamed stockings that weren't 18 dollars a set) I'm a competitive Ice hockey player!!

Oh my how i have babbled already! I will leave now with a picture or two!

s480x640

My date (the ever handsome Luke, he even sings!) and I in the car my dad hired for a carton of beer. (he didn't tell me what it looked like until it turned up).

And the dress, the shoes. Our backyard.

And now I run off to the new purchases thread to share some divine new shoes i've bought.

Hello everyone!

I'm stephanie and this is my first post!
I reside in the lovely city of Sydney and I go to uni where I study media and contemporary cultural studies. This is actually my first vintage forum/community outside of Livejournal. haha.

I'm only 19 but my love affair with vintage a few years ago, but it's only recently that I realised that I want to submerge myself in vintage!

I am in love love LOVE with the 1950s and early 1960s (that still counts as the 50's for Australia, we're so behind!).
I particularly love the trash and consumer culture of that decade and all it's kitschy and ornamental excess.

I love rock n roll and rockabilly dancing, but I've recently picked up swing (Lindy Hop baby!) :)

Can't wait to get right into it!

New to the Lounge, but not the Era

Hello All~
I have been interested in the late 20's to the early 40's era for about 5 years now. I found the Fedora Lounge by searching for 40's hairstyles for a wedding. I am soooo happy to see that this era is coming back and is popular again. I do not dress in swing fashion unless I get to go out dancing. I am all about the swing dancing in Dallas, Texas; Lindy Hop, Charleston, East Coast, Blues-love it all!!!

A little about me: I am 23 and married with no kids yet. We live in Plano, and if there are any of you from that area, please send me a message, I would love to meet some other fantastic Dallas-ites since we are kinda new to here.
Thank all of you ladies for being so welcoming! It's fabulous.

Hello Everyone,

Lovely forum, and thought it best to introduce myself.

My name's Rufus. I'm a comicbook artist, currently drawing for IDW in the states.

I collect vintage clothes, jackets, and vintage comic art.

I found this site while attempting to research a jacket, and am very pleased i have.

My only regret is not finding it sooner.

I've already poted one thread, on my newly arrived B2 jacket, and will upload more photos of jackets soon.

Well...I'd better do some work..looming deadlines!

Kind regards,

Rufus

Hey you Dallas gals, welcome! Keep an eye on the events section. I may have a possible outing in Arlington lined up for us but will be posting an interest thread to soon to see if it's something you all might want to go to.

Hello Ladies hope you dont mind my dropping by, i've been wandering around in the shadows of the lounge for a couple of weeks or so now.

I'm a dance student and discovered the site whilst looking for a dress for performances.

I do a regular burlesque act and work in a vintage shop during the week.
