Hi! I introduced myself in the powder room but thought I'd say hi here where the girls and guys mingle. I've been in love with the golden era since I was little and am thrilled to be a part of this community of people. I sew, knit, crochet, spin yarn, watch classic movies and love the outdoors. I am looking forward to meeting people who enjoy the old values and fashions. :)

Hello, ladies! Just joined up after about a year of reading the threads. This place is such a wonderful resource - I love gleaning all this knowledge from you guys and I just hope I have some info to contribute.

I'm mostly interested in the 30s-40s. Though I do love art nouveau and turn of the century fashion as well as the 20s. And now I've developed a strong need to get my hair in a beehive. So I guess I'm all over the map.

Currently trying to master the victory roll, so I'm off to pincurl. :)

Toodles,

Hi!

I'm so excited to have found this group!! I've always loved all things vintage! I'm an 'old soul' & love sewing & crafts as well as vintage glam!

I live in *very* rural Texas. I'll be getting married soon!! My 'job' is taking care of local kidos, occasionally caring for an elderly friend, tutoring, & a bit of farming!!

I'm still 'new' to putting together a totally vintage wardrobe. For now I have several vintage inspired pieces, a few great house dresses ( I live in these!), and a few hand sewn pieces!

Hi from Animal Jack Wales UK

Hi, I have logged in a few times now -but not really introduced myself- I think if a photo speaks a thousand words then our homemade in the kitchen video should give you an idea of the type of things I/we like.to get up to .....our ace-mate Shazz actually did all the filming -but it was made in just 2 days -so we had to rebuild the scooter overnight ready for the finale the next day!
..............good job we got it running as we were asked to take part in the Mods-Rockers scenes in the new version of Brighton Rock (set in 1964)to be released in uk in Feb 2011.....which was the closest thing to a 60s timeslip- really fantastic ...anyhow -hope you like it......heres the link below Cheers AJ.:)

Sounds like we're all here for the same reasons!

A deep seated love of the good old days and not so forgotten fashions!

Here's to you!

Hey Film Girl!! If you're right in the Chicago area we have lots of folks who do reenacting from the 20's and 30's to civilian impression during WWII. If you're interested in doing something like that, drop me a PM and we'll try to get you out to some events!!

Take care!

BTW: I was also supposed to be in Public Enemies when they shot in Madison WI.....I got ordered in for over time (cop stuff) and lost my big chance. Turns out the reason I got called in was one of my buddies called in...so he could be an extra!! Go figure!!

Welcome all of you. Be sure to get in there and look at the different sections. Bring your questions and your experiences to share. There is a tutorial in one of the sections on how to use Google to search the Fedora Lounge that's useful.

One thing I'd add is when you are making a joke try to use the Emoticon faces ;) with your funny line. Some times what sounded funny to you gets read on the other end and doesn't seem funny to the reader and gets taken the wrong way so you get an angry response of :rage: instead of lol or :p which makes you feel like :eusa_doh: sometimes it happens.

Hello everyone! I'm absolutely a new lady, but feel like I'm finally home. I started collecting men's vintage fedoras, mostly Borsalino and Stetson, in the 80s when I was about 12 yrs old. I recently considered selling my collection, which had been in storage for several years, and I found the Lounge while researching their values. But as I unpacked box after box of hats, and scrolled through the pictures posted here, I remembered why I started collecting in the first place and I've decided to keep them all. (Sorry, fellas!) I can't wait to start posting pics and getting to know more folks that share my obsession!

Hello folks! I've been browsing the forum for a few years off and on, finally signed up a few days ago and now I'm posting :)

I've been interested in vintage fashion and beauty for years, I'd like to say I get dolled-up every day, but sadly I usually save it for nights out. I do however make sure my nails and toenails are always painted hehe!

Hello! I already introduced myself to the Ladies in the Powder room, but thought I should post here as well to say hi to everyone else. I started collecting vintage men's fedoras when I was about 12 years old. I collected for many many years but had to put my collection in storage when I moved cross-country. I recently shipped and unpacked half of them with the intention of selling them, but while researching their values I found the Fedora Lounge and my love of hats was rekindled. Now I've decided not to sell! I don't know how many I still have - 20? 30? I culled the collection to mostly Borsalino and Stetson when I put them away. Half are still in Chicago, but I can't wait to share them with this group as I bring them home. As a teenaged girl, I didn't know anyone else who loved hats the way I do. That was back in the 80s. But I can tell that now I am among kindred spirits. Thank The Tubes!

Hello all! My apologies for not introducing myself sooner. I'm rather shy, even on the internet.

Vintage anything has been a passion of mine my whole life. I've always had some sort of collection of something, whether it be cigarette cases or shoes. I think much of it has to do with having considerably older parents. My dad fought in WWII so I don't feel terribly far removed from that era.

I'm very glad to be here and look forward to meeting all of you.

ETA: If someone might direct me to a link to help me figure out how to make my avatar the right size, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Hullo from the Pacific Northwest USA

Hi everyone-

Greetings from the (currently damp) Pacific Northwest near Seattle! I'm Meg. 40, 2 cats, no kids, live with my sweetie and my mum. (I take care of her) I've always loved retro stuff and I swoon over antique stores where you have to dig for treasures in piles of stuff. I've recently started playing with the 1940's styles for my hair and makeup. Clothing is a little harder to find, at least affordable stuff, since I'm plus-sized and don't have a hundred dollars to drop on one dress here and there. Needless to say, Ebay is a good friend. LOL

I love all the photos and you saying how you did your lovely hairstyles and such, what a great group! I found this through web searches while looking at great blogs like New Vintage Lady and Va-Voom Vintage. So, nice to meet everyone!

Warm hi and hello there from the North!

My name...unfortunately, is not Cora, though I would desperately love for it to be so. So, in that regards, I'm Cora! :p

I'm (newly turned) 23 and engaged to be engaged. :D Madly in love with my handsome fella and currently apartment hunting. I've been in love with Vargas girls for quite some time but I've only dabbled in the fashion style for the last year or so. Recently, I've upped the ante a bit and I've been curving my wardrobe to more of a Pin Up-esque style. I'm very much in love with Betty Page and even dared to give myself the blunt bang (which I'm now obsessed with and can't imagine myself without).

I stumbled upon the Fedora Lounge by accident when browsing the web for wedding favour ideas. This site popped up and I've been anonymously stalking you all for the last two months ;) I finally signed up yesterday and couldn't wait to be approved for posting!

This is getting a little long, I tend to babble on when I'm excited about something!

Much love ~<3

- Cora

Hello!

Hi everyone, I am Stephanie and I am 23 and a podiatrist from a small town not far from Liverpool.
I have always loved dressing 'classy' but have recently started to research the 1940s and 1950s and I love the style and elegance of the eras! It also suits my curvy figure more than 'modern' fashion.
My wardrobe mostly consists of repro such as bettie page and vivien of holloway and high street clothes in a vintage style, of which there seems to be a lot of this season!
I love how a small amount of effort can make you look really hight maintenance, ladylike and classy. I have had so many complements on my clothes, hair and makeup since I started dressing 1940s/1950s which is lovely!
I am really inspired by Fleur De Guerres blog!

Steph
