I just realized that I haven't properly introduced myself!

My name is Jonni (it's pronounced JoHnny) and I am so pleased to have found the Fedora Lounge! I have had an affinity for the Golden Era for a long time now (after spending time obsessed with the Victorian/Edwardian eras) and it's so nice to find others who feel the same way. As you know, you don't find people like that much in everyday life, sometimes I feel like such an oddball.

I love fashion history and I would dearly love to have a wonderful closet full of vintage garments to wear but, alas, they don't seem to come in my size. So I rely on trying to focus on classic styles in modern clothes, adding a vintage flair whenever possible. I own 2 sewing machines and don't have a clue how to use them but I would like to learn so that I could make a few of my own things. I love, love, love hats and wear them whenever possible!

I just recently moved from California (slightly south of the SF Bay Area) to the land of Mickey Mouse in Florida. I can't even begin to tell you how homesick I am when I read about all the wonderful activities taking place in SF. There doesn't seem to be a lot of vintage events in Florida, at least I haven't found 'em.

I look forward to many happy times here!

Hi all! I'm new to the lounge (well, in truth-- I've been lurking quite a bit and thought I should come out and say hello). I live in upstate NY and have a love of vintage styles-- particularly the late 30s into the war years. Now that my kids are just past the baby stage-- I've been finding time to return to sewing and spend a bit more attention on my dress. I've picked up a nice little collection of patterns on ebay and have been sewing a small vintage-inspired wardrobe! While I love the real vintage clothes-- I cringe at the thought of getting them destroyed by my very active kiddos!

I've already learned a bunch from you girls! I look forward to being around the lounge!

Welcome to the lounge Parriss! You're among probably the most friendliest bunch of gals you could ever possibly hope to meet, so, hopefully, after awhile, you won't feel shy :) As you start reading threads, you'll soon discover (if you haven't already) that there's a wealth of information in here. It will be great getting to know you :D

hi, i am pretty new, only been here a couple of weeks, i think. i found the lounger because i was looking for information on men's hollywood jackets. i like men's vintage jackets with my regular slacks or even, gasp, jeans. i look horrid in red lipstick so don't wear that.

i am a photographer, live in the high desert, barstow, california and work for a newspaper in victorville about 30 miles south. great location for someone who loves the desert but doesn't want to be too far away from things like the ballet.

this is a great site as i love all the photos folks post. and i love my amelia earhart train case!

(copied from "finally brave enough to introduce myself!"

Hi. I've been lurking for a while..finally decided to introduce myself and start posting. My name is Eva and I live in a hole in the wall place called Texarkana. You may have heard of it from "Smokey and the Bandit", or most likely from "The Town That Dreaded Sundown". Anyhow.. I'm married to a wonderful husband named Wallace who will also be posting under this username. (confusing I know but we only have one paid ISP email..!)
We have four children at the moment... Drevi is 4. Brodie is 2. Luther is 1 (technically 18 months) and Oliver is almost 2 months old.

We're fairly new at trying to dress vintage, but I noticed while looking through our wardrobe, in a lot of ways we have been all along! We like styles from the 30's to the 50's.. but tend to prefer 40's.

I'm so glad I found these forums.. We don't know ANYONE here that shares our taste in vintage things..it's nice to know we're not alone! Anyhow, carry on and thanks for reading.

- Eva

Hello, I have been here a couple of days and have already posted. I guess that means I flunked the shy test.
I live in Long Beach, California, and was looking at Swing Dance sites when I came upon the Fedora Lounge. I am an esthetician, and am interested in starting to dance. We jitterbuged in junior high and I loved it.

I miss dresses and hose, and have started the search for the perfect red lipstick. I have enjoyed everyones posts and think that I have come upon a very nice corner of the internet indeed.

PS. WHERE are you ladies getting your fabulous avatars?

I'm new too! *waves*

Hello all,

I'm fairly new here, and have been lurking for a few days, but thought I would step up and say hello offically. . . So. . . Hello! *waves*

My current obsession is with c. 1940, and I've just made a hat, and am soon to make a dress to match. But I know this is the just the very tip of the iceberg as far as being obsessed with reproducing vintage fashion!

Looking forward to chatting with all of you. :)
