I wanted one of these so badly when I first saw it, but quickly overcame with the military jacket fever instead. Looks great on you.

Their evolution has been interesting. ... . I do like seeing a new brand come along and do their own thing rather than cloned whatever's popular. Thedi have carved a nice style niche for themselves.

You mean a new brand from 1979? ;-)
It might get the attention it deserves now, but Thedi Leathers is anything but a new brand (unless I misunderstood you).

Jings, that's definitely news to me. I've only been aware of them this last, what, seven or eight years that they've been around these parts? Had no idea they'd been around that long. It would make sense, though, given that the original range that were a bit 'modern' for me were very much in the 70s / 80s mould. Were they just new to the web / international market a few years ago, or is it simply that that's when they got a new international awareness via this place?

Can't tell. Maybe Theodoros himself or any of long followers can answer better than I.

They have been in the leather jacket business since 1979, but they weren't making high end jackets. For years they made mall quality jackets which were intended to be just that. They were sold in malls. At one time thedi jackets were sold in 200 retail outlets. After that they designed and produced Harley Davidson branded jackets for the European market. I believe they started making the quality jackets they're known for today somewhere around 2009/2010.

Makes sense, that's about the time they started to register on the radar round here, and also I recall the Harley connection about the buzz. Interesting they made that switch, I suppose a logical one if leather isn't as fashionable as once it might have been. (I have no idea on the fashion stakes, but it's a rare student I see in leather on campus nowadays, whereas in my own student days back in the 90s it was common, even if much of it was the sort of 70s leathers Kurt Cobain and the likes wore at the time, all bought in various Belfast vintage shops for £20 and under!)

On that background basis, I can see why they were once thought to be a possible source of manufacture of BK jackets, though as I recall Theodoros confirmed a few years ago that was not so.

Just took delivery of this same exact jacket yesterday. Wow it's nice. The leather is absolutely beautiful. And the armholes are high and it's one of the rare leather jackets where I can reach forward and up and not have the whole jacket lift up to my ears. Sitting in the car with hands on the wheel is perfectly comfortable. Build quality seems great, leather and lining are fantastic. Very happy with it.
