New jacket just arrived!

Aero Board Racer in Abyss Blue Bainbridge. This color is just spectacular. The photos don’t even come close—it has a really deep glow of midnight navy, not purplish (can almost appear that way in pictures with flash), not greenish. It’s less blue to the eye than the TB photos but it’s close to that in sunlight.

thanks to all of you for your input and guidance! I think this one turned out great. Problem is I’m getting closer to feeling the end in terms of needing other jackets (hahaha...) since TFL has helped me get what I actually want.

I’ve been dying to see someone get the Abyss. The color looked so rich and nice in the Thurston photos. Spectacular. Can’t wait to see more pics of it in different lighting.

What's the basic "weight" of the jacket and overall feel of this leather like? I would think this is closer to a Vicenza weight (so about 4.5-5 lbs for the complete jacket) verses CXL FQHH which runs around 6-8 lbs depending upon the style, size and thickness.

The color, even in your indoor photos is amazing to behold. I suspect a lot of people will be asking you about your new jacket there.

Overall it feels mid-weight, closer to Vicenza. Definitely lighter than CXL not just in weight but also much more pliable. This is supposed to have a really quick break in, and I can see why. It’s a pretty soft leather. Although I love the depth of color of cxl, this is right up there or better!

Havn´t seen many Bainbridge jackets in the wild, let alone aged ones. Yours looks spectacular for lack of a better word. The proof will be in the beaten and aged state of the hide.

Thanks everybody! Will try to get some more pics in sunlight over the weekend. Definitely the blue is more pronounced in sunlight. It’s an amazing blue. I was wondering whether it would appear too dark based on the early photos of Bainbridge but it’s clearly blue, not black. I also prefer it to the Vicenza navy sample I received, which definitely has a purple tinge to my eye, although that looks nice as well.

Overall, I’m really happy with it and I think the Bainbridge will age really well. So far there’s nothing I wish I had changed on the jacket in terms of design, lining, measurements—how often does that happen haha. Even the shoulder gussets are helpful for this narrow-shouldered pattern.

Thanks to Carrie and TB for a great experience! The wait (ordered September ‘20) was worth it...
