New hats

So I was recently (and thankfully finally!!) diagnosed with chronic Lyme. I am on a regiment of doxycycline which means no sunshine for this alabaster skinned lady!! I already wear gloves 90% of the time because of the era I choose but I was wondering if you gals could make some large hat suggestions. I only own fascinations currently. My fashion rests in the late 40s early 50s war era. I usually do my hair in victory rolls and a snood in the back... Not sure what kind of hats to buy!

there are some goods shops on etsy that have vintage hats for sale ( try here or here and there's a sale on here) and some where you can even custom order so if you find a style you like in a film or such you can have it made (it is expensive though!) (here ).

Luckily there are some gorgeous wide-brim hats from that period and its relatively simple to jazz up a plainer style widebrim hat if you prefer - so you could buy a modern straw hat and attach a large bow or flowers or some netting to make it more period appropriate.

Also, if you can knit or crochet there are a reasonable number of patterns for vintage hats which you could make yourself, although they're typically not as appropriate for sun protection - you might like to do a search on ravelry.com if you're interested though

<<UPDATE>> just did a search on ravelry and there are some lovely brimmed hats that im sure would fulfill your needs so take a look if you or someone you know can knit/crochet www.ravelry.com is the site and you just need to create an account for free and then many of the patterns are available for free and those that are on sale are mostly well worth the price
