New Hatrack

Okay guys and gals. My attempt at a hatrack. All supplies can be found at Home Depot.

Supply list:

Clear pine trim board, 3" x 7/16" x how ever log you need it.
Clear pine 2" mullion
Nickel finish Stanley door stops
1 "eye" hanger
Clear half-dome pads (like you put on the back of a picture frame)

Attach 2" mullion to 3 1/2 " trim board with carpenters glue and small wire nails, countersink nails and fill holes. Prime and then painted with same trim paint as the rest of the house. The wood is clear pine so it could also be stained.

Another Robin? I feel my individuality being threatened. ;)

The hatrack looks great. I'm going to have to come up with something like this for my own collection soon.

Do you plan on rotating the hats to reduce uneven fading or dust?

Very inspiring

I like how you chose wood that complements your door trim, and painted it very nicely. Really looks like it goes with the house. Since I live in a pretty small apartment this gives me a great example to follow. Thanks for giving us all the details!

What they all said! :eusa_clap :)

I noticed a hatrack at [Jimmy] Pierce's Custom Hats in Granbury, TX when some of us North Texas Loungers were there today.
It appeared to be constructed with small diameter pine dowling imserted into a backing board at a 45 degree angle with a much larger dowel attached horizontally at the end of the small dowel. I wish I'd taken a picture.

I keep all my hats, but what I wearing now, in hat boxes, so the dust (oh, joy) of our dirt road will not hurt the felt. My everyday beater fedora is in easy reach for me and my wheelchair on a store bought metal rack for when I go outside.
P.S. Nice hat rack!

and I thought it was a chore to re-hang pictures after painting the walls....

Very nice collection JT. My 2 hats would look very lonely if they were hung like that.

French, Two hats are like two rabbits. Watch out! lol

Exactly. Why do you think so many people object to stacking hats on top of each other? lol
