Hi guys,

I recently acquired a Goodwear Ventura from John after a lengthy wait. It's a russet goatskin and it perfectly complements the russet horsehide Ventura I got from Cooperson a few weeks ago. This is a vintage russet and is lined with a tartan wool lining. The zippers are NOS talon and they add a nice touch to the jacket.

It's a trim cut as requested and it helps to give it a very vintage look... All in all, it was a great experience dealing with both John and Vickie and I look forward to getting another jacket in the future.

Here's a pic to give you an idea.... I'll try to post some more when I get the opportunity ~

Looks like you've had it a while - the sleeves are all wrinkled already. It it veg tanned? I love this style in goat. What does it weigh?

It's only had a couple of months wear...I've been wearing it thoroughly since I got it though and have been caught a good few times in the rain and even snow. I've been keen to break it in so was doing a lot of arm clenching etc and those wrinkles set in very quickly - I guess it's a characteristic of the vintage goatskin...

That's really nice Stephen, looks vintage already. Would like to see some pics of it being worn and some of you in my old horsehide Ventura, if you still have it. Woukd be a great comparison of hides.

Thanks for posting.

Hi Cooperson,

Yes - I'll try to get some pics with it being worn when I get a chance. I do still have your Ventura which I absolutely love! If anything the fit on yours is slightly better for my frame (it allows for layering which makes it a nice alternative to this goatskin).

Thanks guys! I believe it's chrome tanned and I'm not sure of it's exact weight... It's fairly substantial so it's not particularly lightweight but it's ideal for spring/autumn.

Beautiful jacket, especially love the throat tab and ball chain chest pocket zipper. Great build!

I'm pretty sure the vintage goatskin is chrome tanned too. Very soft - almost capeskin-like.
