New furniture! And a question...

Hi!

I just got a few new pieces of furniture. Hurrah! My mom gave me the buffet for my birthday and there's another piece which was from the same estate. Does anyone know what it is called or would be used for? I thought maybe as a bar because of the big cabinet up top but I'd love to hear from you if you know or have a guess.

Oh! That would be fabulous! I have my vintage linens scattered all over right now, so it would be nice to have them together. The large piece up top doesn't look like it has ever had shelves in it, which is why I was stumped!

Sometimes called ...

a "Butler's Pantry" although you have to wonder what self-repecting butler could do with so little space. I think the drawers would be for linens and the shelves for your silver serving pieces?
Really lovely, and easy to match the wood for table and chairs later on if you like!

What does the inside look like? Does it have open drawers? If so, it's definitely the aforementioned butler's pantry. It looks like oak, or possibly walnut, and very Deco or Craftsman. My guess would be early 20th century. VERY nice.

Thanks! Yes, there are no shelves on the inside and the bottom is drawers. Kinda figures, I was thinking "this looks so Jeeves and Wooster" when I saw it ;)

Thank you so much everyone for the imput! The seller said both pieces are "English Oak." I have a late teens/early 20's craftsman-ish table I'm moving into the dining room, so I'll take pics once I get it all set up :)

Hehehehe!! Well, I will keep my eyes open for more!!! :D

Nope, no sign of shelves at all. Just a big empty cabinet. And thanks! It's really one of my favorite design periods.

Thanks so much, everyone, for your imput. I moved the table and chairs in there today and starting putting my china and linen treasures in their new homes. I'll take some pictures once I get it all put together! :)

Lauren, Magneto and I are going to be looking for furniture of that type for our new place. I LOVE that picture of that furniture.
