I actually went out of my way, once upon a time, to walk the windswept beach at Dunkirk. I found it cold, windy, lonely, and a bit haunted. Might go see the film. What captures my imagination is the idea of hundreds of merchant marine vessels, fishing boats, pleasure craft, etc., taking up the call to rescue their boys in a dire emergency. Again, its that "we're all in this together" spirit that I sometimes miss in today's world. I hope it is reflected in the movie.

I believe I read recently that the small boats that took part in the evacuation are permitted to fly a special Dunkirk Ensign. Wonderful tradition.

The St George's Cross defaced with the arms of Dunkirk flown from the jack staff is the warranted house flag of the Association of Dunkirk Little Ships. It is known as the Dunkirk jack. The flag is flown only by civilian vessels that took part in the Dunkirk rescue operation.

And I agree.
And if it's a Stuka that gets him with one of those archetypal-Michael Bay-shots of the bomb being released at high altitude and the camera viewing the bomb and following it down as it descends right on poor Harry and in the last split second he looks up and is wide-eyed in hapless terror before he's obliterated, I wouldn't be surprised to later learn that Taylor Swift greased the studio's palm and paid to sneak it in to the film ...!

I had to look it up, but I'd heard that "a boy band guy" was in this, and the comment above about gob-shites made me look.

I'm the same way. I have liked Harry Connick Jr. and Gene Simmons in films.
