New custom fedora, how much?

I need a new hat, and I've been thinking about a custom made fedora. How much should I expect to spend?
Until now I only bought branded hats, but considering the price of a new borsalino (for example) and the not so high quality of the new ones I'm wondering if for the same price (more or less) I could have a better quality custom hat...

Any suggestion?

If you looked at the previously mentioned links, that should pretty much answer the question. A new factory hat that is likely not 100% beaver is going to be nearly as much as a custom and figure that you are paying extra for the custom fit, special attention to detail and better materials being used.

As I thought there is not a great price difference. I need to double check my finance but I think I could go for the custom hat

looking around it seems like it starts around $300 and goes to as high as $1000

Custom hat??

For what it is worth I have several custom hats made by Steve Delk aka Fedora and Art Fawcett. Believe me there is no comparison to factory hats that are available today, even the top Borsalinos blush when they see one of either hatters' creations.

There are some other custom hatters out there that do good work if you want to pay twice the price and not be sure about the felt quality.

Go for the gusto and buy your hat from either Steve or Art! They are both fine, top drawer hatters and gentlemen that keep their word and don't try to snow you with a lot of BS about how long it takes them to make a fine hat.
