New Chrysler Imperial

Wow

Hadn't thought about this car in years. I gather it was a dormant name for several years? My grandmother had a Chrysler Imperial from the 1950's. I seem to recall it had push button gears on the far left side of the dash. The new ones are actually pretty cool looking... any idea of the price range?

American car makers have finally decided to make American cars again! (Though one could argue about how American Daimler Chrysler is, but that is another story.) The PT Cruiser, The Prowler, The Magnum, the 2007 Jeep Wrangler, and my favorite: The 300C. Chrysler has realized that there is an American aesthetic and it differs from the generic sedan platforms of Japanese and lower end German automakers. Could this be a reason why Chrysler is doing so much better than Ford and GM?

I love that car. I love the interior. Though I would love for American Car Makers to be orginal instead of "rounding off" their older designs, but hey classics are some what coming back. I heard it is going to be the car in the new Bulliet redo movie.

The Chrysler is going to be the new Bullitt? Does that sound odd to anyone else? Hasn't the name become synonymous with the '68 Mustang?

Seen the new Chrysler concept? Have to admit, Chrysler has the best looking boxes on the road (among US made):

I own a 1950 Chysler Winsor, So I like BIG Chysler's.
This Concept car is Beutiful, but when I saw the first profile pict of it, it was not Chysler Inperial which came to mine, but rather a Darrin design from the late 1930's, The Pakard Clipper.
The desiners where obvius very much inspierd by the cars of Darrin.
The short trunk, the Scalloped window line. The rear Suicide Doors.
It should be called the Chysler Darrin for 2006.
I like the Car.

Now lets give it a PROPER Power Plant, A Nice IN_LINE 8 Cylender or a V12, Please No V6, that is a bad confiuration, at lest give a In-Line 6 at Minumun.

Very cool.

I like this car a lot. Chrysler is killing everybody else American in the style department- the 300C, Crossfire, Charger, etc. If anyone else made this concept vehicle you would figure it was just that - a concept. Chrylser just might have the stones to make it. I'll take mine in black with the SRT package please.

In fairnes to the other makers, the new Mustang is nice and the Camaro concept has a lot of promise.

Bullitt won't drive a Mustang this time? Why on earth not!

I thought the exact same thing. I mean, come on...with the reintroduction of the retro styled Mustang, as well as the new Charger, it's not like they COULDN'T do it right! I mean, good Grief, wouldn't THAT be a great chase with those new monsters?:cheers1:

Not only that, but who on earth could play Bullitt? I am skeptical.

-Jake

You don't think Will Ferrell could pull it off? What about Jack Black? Jim Carrey? Ben Stiller? Queen Latifah? Johnny Knoxville?

Beats the hell out of the '93

Great looking car. I love the suicide doors. Make something unique and people will buy it. Now we know why GM is going down; no imagination. Bob Lutz; formerly of Chrysler, has been trying to get GM back into gear and he has had some success; their interiors look nice and tight and not like Wal-Mart's auto shop. But, the thing holding GM back is the accountants. Lutz wanted to build a set of rear-drivers to compete with Chrysler and the bean counters said no way. GM needs to wring in the accountants, slap around the unions and build cars Americans want; rear drive with a V-8 option. They'll sell plenty of V-6's for CAFE, but at least give us who don't care about mileage a V-8.:jeep:

Chrysler has the best body styles around. My problem is that while test driving a 300C, it stalled at stop lights and then refused to go into reverse. Left me with a bad taste for Chrysler. Nice looking ride but does it ride?

I never owner a Chrysler product. Too much fear from when I was a kid and the 40s-50s cars were so cheezy as described by adults around me.;)

Yeah, yeah. Just like we we're going to get the Efijy. If there was even a remote chance this care was going to be available the way it looks here, I'd start pulling bank heists now.
