Hi everyone,

Well I landed my first Borsalino. I was a bit worried about it because I was the only bidder, but I am hoping that is because it was from Switzerland. The listing claimed it as vintage and the sweatband has the same markings as those that have been listed as such. Specifically under the word Borsalino its just says Grand Prix Paris 1900 without any mention of other countries or US Pat. Pend.

Either way (modern or vintage) I really like the color and will re-bash the crown plus it wasn't too bad a price. From my contact with the seller it is exactly my size (I had him measure it)

Take a peek if you care to...I am thinking a C crown perhaps...ideas? I will post more on it when it arrives.

Added comment/idea...I have seen the ribbon type with the printed Borsalino name on modern Borso's...so...perhaps the ribbon was replaced?

Nice Magus,
Well done!
If it were me, I would send it for a reblock. I don't think the crown is supposed to be that tapered, but see how it looks on.
Great "get," though.
Congrats!

Thanks.
I agree...it will be redone...I'm not sure, I might try it myself. (I tend to be a hands on type of guy.)

Definitely a modern hat

Borsalino didn't put the name of the ribbon like that until quite recently. New Borsos are very uneven. They still make some nice hats (ok, I know, not as nice as most of their vintage hats, but nobody but custom folks make anything close to vintage) and they make some which are junk. This looks like it has an underwelt, a good sign I think. Let us know what its like when you get it.

Later than 1960 for sure. Maybe quite a bit later-

It looks like it may have a velour finish- but that could just be the photos.

Lol...the older we get the more "vintage" becomes a relitive term hmm? Hard to think that a 70's disco era fedora is 35 years old and "vintage". (eeek!)
