Furniture that is....

Thanks to the wonder that is Craigslist...I got a new bedroom suite for a steal today!

I spent the afternoon driving in circles to get all the pieces home. (I love having a small station wagon !

Very attractive set.

It looks a little dry, you may want to feed it some oil.

It's always wonderful to see a set like that so complete. Did the previous owner hate to part with it? Or was it an estate sale? It's in great condition. And given that it's Craigslist, I don't even want to know how much you paid, because I'll cry. Wow. Very, very nice. Tres classay. Now you need a nice 1937 6 tube dresser top radio to go with it!

It belonged to a grandmother in the family, and so I think her kids wanted it gone, but the son-in-law did ask me if I was a collector and seemed quite happy that I would cherish it.

I am just happy I was able to leave work at the drop of a hat today and go get it before anyone else did...

And yes...it will get oiled shortly Tomasso...these were 'just got in the door' pictures.

Sorry, just thought I'd make mention. You'd be surprised how many don't know that you need to feed wood. [huh]

nothing to be sorry about...was just responding to your great suggestion.

Today's task was getting it all inside the house and so forth...the rest will have to come when I can actually move again......so sore and tired by this point, I have a feeling that walking tomorrow might prove challenging.

Beautiful furniture, there, Miss Neecerie! Being a former furniture deliverer, I would have been happy to have helped you, but at the same time, being a former furniture deliverer . . .

Congratulations! I hope you'll be able to move again soon. :D

Thankfully I did have some help. The seller helped me load into car...then since it was multiple loads and i was waging a time war before rush hour...I merely got each piece out of the car and onto my pathway...and left it there...and my neighbour helped me get them all in later on. Three cheers for having vintage loving neighbours that don't balk at furniture duty!

But I carried the mirror on my own...and its a good 4 feet across.....stupid me....

you're absolutely correct...just got done moving and had to oil all the wood furniture thats been in storage for about a year...if you listened closely you could hear the wood gulping down the oil...

What I find surprising is the lack of damage to the veneering. It is as though the furniture has been hidden away from all sun. No sign of drying out or cracking...marvelous...intact handles et al...superb!:eusa_clap :eusa_clap :p :p
