Wow! I'll have to watch it. Quibbles (already) I think they would have said "The" Central Park in those days. Also, the prostitutes will all be too pretty and healthy looking. And the womens hair doesn't seem quite right. But I'm totally up for seeing this.

As I said on the other (soon to be merged?) thread about this show: I watched it and was completely underwhelmed. Not a single thing in it struck me as remotely believable.

Too bad, because they obviously put a lot of effort into recreating the period...

Its not that I necessarily have anything against shows where the murderer is the rich guy. But does every show have to have the rich guy be the murderer? Just sheer numbers would tell you that all the murders by rich guys added together (assuming any reasonable murder rate) could only amount to a fraction of the murders by everybody else. When you know at the beginning the murderer is going to be the rich guy it really doesn't make for much of a show, does it?

Now, I realize they are just trying to say metaphorically that rich guys are bad people. But do they have to say it in every show ever put on television?

I gave season one a try. Other than the period setting, this show could be any other generic cop show. It has all the cliches and none of the substance.

I thought the same thing, even though I only made it through half of season one. Visually interesting and good performances, but ultimately wasn't compelling enough to keep me watching.

Agreed. I found it hard to get through one episode due to the bad cop show cliches.
Ripper Street looks very good and I'm going to give that show a watch.

Ripper Street's okay. It suffers from the 'make the lead character a tormented soul' syndrome, but I stayed for the whole run, which is saying something for a Sunday night's viewing.
