Better is a relative term. Have had more expensive shoes that hurt my feet, and or back, at the end of the day. For whatever reason AE makes a shoe that my feet feel as good after 10 hours as when I put them on in the morning. So for me, better design, leather etc. really is not better.

It's the color that works for me
Cordovan is expensive but you could buy a pair and they will last the rest of your life. at least IMHO.

l think that rugged shell calls for a double sole shoe, a single sole would be a mistake.
