My new Aero Bronco A-2 in Vicenza Seal with Caramel knits. It’s a size 42 and feels a little tight, maybe because it’s new HH? My old A-2 is an Aero 42-15142-P in 44 and is definitely too big. What’s the opinion?

Looks good to me. I'm not an A2 guy , had a nice one and sold it recently. "Blousy" on me as they can be in 44"

I sold that to a guy who was taking it back to Thailand. he was "rounder" than me and it fit him fine.

Repeat. Yours looks good to me

I could see it feeling tight, but in this instance, the leather should relax in time. I have a 42 contract Aero A-2 which has a marginally thicker batch of Vicenza. Indeed, it'll need to break in like yours. I wear my jackets on the relaxed end of the fit spectrum and that one is still kind of tough.

That’s a great looking jacket man!
How do the arm holes feel? I once tried on Aero A-2 and the arm holes were so high and tight that they literally sawed into my armpits.
A little bit of tightness will probably loosen up as others have said, but if the jacket is uncomfortable then I would send it back.

Looks like the classic Bronco fit to me - snug across the chest, looser in the back. Obviously it will get more comfortable as it breaks in, though with the high arm holes it doesn't like a heavy sweater underneath.

Here's a shot of mine when it was new (bravo on the caramel knits by the way).

Thanks for the insight, yes, it’s the armholes were I’m feeling the tightness. Did yours loosen up? Nice jacket by the way!

Hi El Marro, the armholes are tight! Tighter thank my Aero contract jacket but it’s also a 44 and definitely too big in the body.

Yeah, it loosened up a little and molded to me, which definitely helped. I had to adjust my expectations for layering though. Maybe a thin sweater, long sleeve tee is fine too. Anything heavier than that, it's not the best.

Looks great. Love those knits!

Don't get too far down the rabbit hole of "correct" A2 fit - as you'll see if you look at a lot of period fits, especially during the war fit was all over the place. In the end, though, the A2 was designed to be worn over just a shirt and tie (in place of a military dress tunic), so, imo at least, it's not a jacket that looks right when worn to be layered with a heavy sweater.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't pilots wear them in the cockpit?

And you're absolutely right that in practice the fit was all over the place.

Hmmm. Well at the end of the day only you can make the call. I know the one that I tried was just not even an option, after having it on for 30 seconds I was in pain. Your jacket looks amazing in the pictures but in my experience the jackets that are a little too tight always photograph the best.

Yes, having baggy clothing in the cockpit would be bad!
I’ve decided it will join the permanent stable and I have begun breaking it in, even just today the back and sleeve openings have given way and it feels like a comfortable sport coat which is what I was after. My Perry Mixed hides is my colder weather jacket so I need something over a t shirt or t and dress shirt. Thank you everyone for the comments! Great group of folks here.
