Could y'all please stop that kindergarten bickering? Everybody is entitled to wear a jacket in a fit that fits for them. No matter if others think it's to loose or too tight, too big or too small. Just enjoy what you like and let others enjoy what they like.

+1 Enough is enough is enough :bored:

Hell Man...many of us have posted pics of our jackets..and even been criticized about certain fit. Opinions can vary. Just posting a photo opens the door. That's what a pic is normally shown for.
Some seem to always bestow compliments while others are often more precise about certain things.
For most here the fit is all important to achieve. You admit that the sizing you like isn't so agreeable to most...yet seem offended if someone dares mention it. Then argue just where you think the half belt should be positioned. Then back to 'Don't tell me how to wear mine'. Just seems like back and forth leading nowhere..unless everyone just shuts up.

Just for future reference, my way of wearing jackets is better than anyone else's. Deal with it. Obviously, I decline to say what my way is, as it is nobody's business. Just had to get this in before the thread is closed...

Just to throw this back to the subject of new Aero designs, I've heard that there's a good dozen new ones on the way in spring.

Well..don't wear 'high waisted' pants. Probably 'medium waisted' at the most as everyday wear..so..I just order a little extra length to wear the jacket with 'anything' (afterall custom order is Aero's forte'). Versatility makes better sense to me. [huh]

Definitly makes sense to order one that works with your own wardrobe, whatever that is. I'm a fan of the standard lengths myself, but I've always hated low rise waists. Even in my early teens. These days, I simply will not buy a pair of trousers unless they come up at least to my natural waist. :) Horses (or, you know, Steers) for courses. ;)

Or you can get the 1940's wartime look and have the adjusters as chest adjusters because you trousers stop just below your rib cage :) :) :)

If only that was the default fit. I don't know who is responsible for the spread of the low waist, but there is a space on my list for his or her name.

Looking forward to seeing those. I read somewhere (probably here - maybe your article?) that Ken was talking about bringing out a few new designs every year. Be nice to see. (Also a good sign they're nearly on top of the backlog again if they're looking at new stuff, no?)

I think it was in my article:D It's a hefty number of new ones, though. I suppose given the situation, Aero feel the need to put some clear-water between them and AL. Can only be a good thing to expand the choice generally - I'm fairly certain I noticed that they've got a new cafe racer on the site already.

You are right it is a 42 and that s my jacket. I forgot it was a 42, all my other Aeros are size 40. It is a light weight jacket with a light liner. I don't wear it much as I wear my Cafe Racer pretty much most of the time. I like what you wrote in your posting about wearing what works for you. that is sound advice.

If I were a sarcastic poster this is probably the point when I'd liken so many pages of heated (near vitriolic) debate concerning the position of a non-functional leather 'belt' to 'counting stitches', but there you go...it's fortunate that I'm not so inclined. ;-)

Polygraphmark, to me this jacket is pretty much the perfect half belt. Enjoy it! If I were you I'd wear it all the time and sell the cafe racer. ;)

Non-functional? It, combined with buckles, changes the look depending on how tight you wish to have the buckle. I'd call that functional.

Personally, I get the buckles tight as possible - after I finally worked out how to get them to stay tight - and the back belt helps to get a pulled-in waist look.

Not in my book tonypaj, the buckles give the functionality, unless the belt is able to be tightened.

Depends how you define function, really. Every part of a jacket has a function, otherwise it needn't be there. A collar has a function, a sleeve has a function, a lapel has a function.

I think what you are referring to is adjustability, which is a different thing entirely:D;)

The 'belt' provides a clear line at back, acting as a guide or focus point for cinching of buckles, or D-ringed straps. Without this arrangement I suspect there would be 'blousing' in the back. So there is function in this strip of leather.

Similarly, the half-belt allows for insertion of pleats and such, aiding fit at the back. I'm sure there are examples of close-fitting jackets with other arrangements than half-belts, but a half-belt is certainly one way of engineering a neat fit. Again, in this regard a half-belt is functional.

Any garment technicians in the house?

CW's point about pleats is a very good one. I suppose it's a 'compositional' element in the back of the jacket.

Yes, on reflection I'll accept that one.
