I'm thinking Jack's dad is involved with Hanso.I think we all know that he's not dead. And, since the only Austrailian main character on the show is Claire, wouldn't it be something if Jack was somehow related to her?? (for those who didn't see, Jack's dad was in Austrailia seemingly involved in a domestic squabble with an Aussie family). Maybe Jack's dad is Claire's baby's father??

I'm not sure whether Jack's dad is dead or not. Jack did claim him at the morgue in Austraila but, if he's involved with Hanso, that may not mean anything, right?

I thought we saw the father of Claire's baby in her flashback last season, am I incorrect?

Originally, I kind of had the feeling that Jack's father went to see a small child as he was arguing with the mother? about seeing her.

I wondered why Jack's dad asked Ana Lucia to be his body guard. Surely if he thought he were seriously in danger, wouldn't he have arranged for protection before he went to Austraila instead of picking up a stranger, whose background he couldn't be certain of to protect him?

Maybe Claire is Jack's sister? I'm assuming she is in her late teens/early twenties.

We saw her boyfriend, who she assumes is the father. But who knows, right?!
The truth is, the producers admit that, while they have a basic structure of the storyline (like what is really happening), the little sub-plots are being made up as they go along! It's kinda exciting!

Had to drag this thread up again since LOST is starting again this Wednesday. Can't wait to see the episode and see what you guys think of it.

I don't really watch the show but have they built a fort yet?

Everytime I catch it on it seems they're still mucking about on the sand instead of clearing ground and building defensible structures.

In season 1 there was a polar bear (well they didn't know exactly "what" at first but it was a large animal/probably predator) running around and no one used any of that immense chunk of aircraft aluminum to make spears or other weapons? No one built a boma or kraal?

They willingly surrender all the guns to one guy not once, but if I remember being told the storyline correctly, twice?

They don't, after dealing with immediate needs, send out a scouting party to discover if the island is even an island within a week or so of crashing?

The before mentioned "not talking to one another" comment just tears it. I really, really hate shows in which for any dramatic conflict to occur it requires everyone involved to be an idiot, ignorant of any useful skills or wilderness/survival knowledge and to consistently make poor choices.

Like I said, I haven't watched it consistently, so I may be way off base. But the first couple partial episodes I caught were enough to leave me shaking my head at the characters. By this point I probably would have shot my TV in frustration.

The Swiss Family Robinson had fewer people and resources than these folks and yet they were able to build a fortified treehouse, have a couple weddings and defeat a pirate attack.

Carebear, you really should catch if if you can. It's pretty good, I don't like a lot of "dumb" tv and I don't think this show fits into that category. It's pretty addictive though and the characters really aren't as bad as you think actually, it's one of the better shows on tv in my opinion.


I really can't wait to see what they come up with for this season and of course what you guys think, you're theories last season were ridiculously brilliant.

I've been offered the DVD sets. I guess I'll have to give them a watch.

I refuse to get caught up in it though, whenever I get really into a show they cancel it and break my heart.

LOST is a bona fide hit, so cancellation is not gonna happen anytime soon.
Season one is far better than two. I have high hopes for the new season! Co-creator JJ Abrams seems to be back at the helm after last years absence.

X-Files was a hit too and Chris Carter let it drag on and go out with a lame whimper instead of telling his story and tying it all up..

If you're going to have a show with a real "story arc", especially one that is in essence a gimmick, it needs to be designed to tell that story and then "end". Not limped along to wring every last dollar from the franchise until it's a mere shell of what it was.

Oh, it will have an ending, but I was saying that it won't get yanked off TV unresolved. There is, according to the creators, a definite end to the story. I've even heard rumours of a feature film.

My fear is that ABC will want it to run longer than Abrahms does. If it keeps its ratings, it will end up jumping the shark -- at network insistance.

I thought the opening sequence was brilliant! That first 5 minutes sucked me in to another season, to be sure. The rest was pretty good, too. Once we found out Sawyer was being kept in a bear cage, I immediately thought there's a "logical" explanation for that polar bear we saw in Season 1 -- and not some magical result from Walt's imagination.

I like it!

The produceer of the show have already said that they have the direction the stotyline will go and a firm ending. The case of many shows is that they're written week to week meandering at the will of the director and take lots of side excursions away from the main story. It sounds like this will definetely end when the storyline plays out whether its 3 or 5 seasons regardless of popularity at the time of the end.

I liked it, I know some people didn't. Yes, the first few minutes of the show were attention grabbing, The Others in their own little suburban like community?

Was the Stephen King book a reference to the idea that Stephen King wrote the book Bad Twin?

Weren't the polar bears in the first season mega huge? Would they have fit into those cages? Or, did they outgrow them?


I read today ABC is only going to show 6 new episodes then LOST goes on hiatus for 13 weeks for a Taye Diggs show. I don't think I'm happy abou that.

Did any of you guys watch that new show The Nine after LOST? I watched the first half but, I bailed.

Saywer in the cage, then escaping (ala Heston) ,Kate in the opposite cage staring across at Saywer (like the Nova character). The music was definitely a take off on the "Apes" soundtrack in all the Saywer scenes. At least to me! I totally saw it as a tribute!
