Need HELP with an Aero "Hercules"

hey guys;

need your advice on my next acquisition: the Aero "HERCULES". I am 175 cm tall and I am want this jacket to be long enough to come down to about more than half my trouser zipper (maybe 3-4 inches below belt line) but not so long that its like one of those long wool above knee pea coats.

I was going with size 42 and I am told that the standard length with that size is 30.5". Since I am going with a Shearling liner, it is supposed to pull up the jacket length being a heavy liner and so I am told that I should ask for 31" length in order for jacket to sit at 30.5" when worn.

what do you guys think ? Would asking for 31" length be too long given my height of 175cm ?

Please advice especially if you have a hercules and could provide your height and length of your Hercules.

thanks

I'm six two a 30 inch back is the right length for a 3/4 leather jacket for me. At your height I would think 31 is too long - 28 might be closer.

Where do you want it to sit at the back? You can use the back pocket of your jeans as an estimate. Generally the bottom of the jeans back pocket will be exposed by 2 -3 inches.

There's a much more simple answer to this. Measure some similarly sized jackets that fit you. In a shop, at home, a friends, whatever. As soon as you have the length you like - measure it. Bottom of the back collar seam to bottom hem line. Jackets of a similar length could include a blazer, a Carhartt or similar work jacket, a chore jacket, a parka.

I'm 6'1" and have a Aero Hercules jacket that's 29.5" in the back. It's the perfect length for me. Keeps me warm in the winter and I can still get into my front jeans pockets.

I'm 5'9". This Original Hercules is a size 42. It is the jacket pictured on their website for the Original Hercules. I bought it here and I don't think there is anything custom about it.

Having 2 very different jackets both called a Hercules is very confusing imo.....one of them needs a name change

I think the OP was talking about the longer one - hence the 31 inch length. In the day Hercules was used to describe a rage of leather outerwear. Aero reproduces two.

Yeah, I was referring to the longer Hercules model. I am 5' 9" and I wanted the jacket to come down about 3-4 inches below belt line. I think 31 inches length would be too long. Maybe 28.5 to 29 inches. I just need it long enough to cover untucked sweaters, and shirts but not too long that it becomes a 3/4 length coat

I took down this video since it is not the style in question. I'm also 5'9" and you can see where this jacket hits me. It is 25 inches long in back as the above pictures show. Maybe you can get some idea out it.

If that's 25 at back then an extra 3-4 inches would do it.

But Windstorm it would help a great deal if you found a coat that came to the right length then measured it.

Aero should call the longer Herc jacket the "Super Hercules". That's what the USAF named their C-130 J aircraft (basically a longer, "stretched" version of the C-130 Hercules cargo plane).
