Hello,

Makeitright,

I do apologize for not responding sooner. It is true that I did not respond immediately, due to some personal financial matters at work and home, but I do wish you would forgive that as I would LOVE to purchase both of your fedoras as I later wrote you. Again, I do apologize, but as I said personal matters kept money tight for awhile. With the new year upon us, I am ready to make some purchases.

Thank you.
I usually reply to the guy that has been trying to help out and let him know what is going on...just as a simple courtesy...but thats just me.

The only reason I started this thread was because, I was unable to get in touch with you! The two fedoras you posted are perfect, and I would love to purchase. Perhaps I could pay a little bit extra to apologize for your trouble?

Please consider accepting my apology as I would love to do business.

That was a mistake. my intention was to post it to a different member; the first one who asked for help.

So, not too long ago, I lost a hat I was rather fond of. It was a brown wool fedora type. It had a brand name of Bass sporting goods or outdoors wear, I am pretty sure it was not Bass sporting goods the store, though I could be wrong. Could anyone confirm the brand and where I could order a new one? Thank you.

Look through the individual brands made by Bollman and see if you can find something similar. Once you have a brand and model name a google search should get you a source for your hat:

Good luck.

I tried google first thing after I lost it, nothing. All I got was Bass the fishing gear. I think the name Bass was it, but it was a different brand. I looked through that link and other ones and nothing.

Well, most wool hats are made by just a few companies and the retailers stamp their names on them. The model names and styles don’t always last very long. It could be that your hat is no longer made, in fact I’d say that was very likely if it was several years old. To the list I already provided I’ll add Orvis and Filson as being worth a look.

It’s rare that we see many wool fedoras around here as fur felt is generally preferred. Fur last longer, keeps its shape better, deals with foul weather better, and doesn’t tend to shrink like wool. If you can’t find the hat you’re looking for you might consider replacing it with a fur felt hat.

Sorry I couldn’t be of more help.

G. H. Bass & Co. sells a wool fedora, although it seems to not be available now. I found it googling G. H. Bass wool hat. They call it a wool brim Panama on the website. Maybe that's the one?

You might have something there, John. I associate the with shoes, but if you found a wool fedora....
