I am currently using an old military blanket the my Old Man had on his cot when he was at Parris Island back in 67. I wish it was a foot or two wideras it currenlty hangs over the side by about 4 inches.

I was about to weigh in on the suggestions by posting a link to some of the blankets on the DeutscheOptik.com site, but the only good blankets they have on hand are the *expensive* ones. The next, less-expensive option would be the surplus blankets noted on Sportsman's Guide / Bargain Outfitters.

At some antique stores today, noticed lots of quilts and wool blankets. Prices seemed quite low from a few years ago. Might be worth doing some browsing.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a set of sheets for a full size bed? It seems that I have worn a hole in my fitted sheet wirh my rough soles.

I'll have to support the wool military blanket, I use one of many that my grandfather absconded with during his time in the navy, in addition to an old quilt, ikea down comforter and a fleecy blanket from walmart. All in all a most snuggly sleeping experience.

Daughter just gifted me a 3 1/2 point white multi-stripe Hudson Bay blanket!!! She picked up 3 nice older wool blankets, all white multi-stripe at a shop for $65! She gave me the one she didn't want!!! Went right straight into my bedroll with my 4 point Whitney ganegaro!

I wonder if the WP blankets were ever made into coats like the Hudson Bay?

Vermont Country Store sells them. They are quite expensive. You might also check thrift stores.

a little update on the blankets required for my Aunt's aides.
can't believe her hope chest empty
they like the Witney, however they seem to favour the GB issue, note the broadsword.
and i found some "Dutch" Royal Navy ones that were a reasonable price from the NL.
these are splendid , soft and long, no smell. perhaps a little bias
will replace my east german
can't find a seamstress here, one would make a terrific capote.
the Israeli one is destined for the car.
the Bulgarian is too heavy for their taste

If you are still on the lookout for sheets, I recommend flannel sheets from Portugal. They are expensive, but many companies carry separate pieces. I got my husband a new fitted sheet for Christmas, given our flat sheets and pillow cases were still hanging in there. I bought from Garnet Hill, they have good sales often, but you can find Portuguese flannel in a number of places.

Not all Portuguese flannel is good. A set we purchased at Costco just a few years back began to pil quite quickly and soon after became very scratchy and not comfortable. Sometimes the cheapest is not the best value.
