Need a solid from my friends in Britain/Europe

I'm retired but I help an older lady with her gardening... I do the grunt work, she points, nods and smiles. She's a sweety but alas her mind is starting to slip and she knows almost nothing of the internet. She asked me if I could find her copy of the "Royal Horticultural Society's Large Color Chart" and I said I would. I looked it up on the web, they run about 200 pounds. None on ebay here or worldwide that I can find. None on Amazon cept the pre-war 1939 edition. My questions are:

1. Would it be cheaper do have someone over there look for one for me? Then I'd pay for it plus shipping?

2. Does anyone have one they're willing to part with for some cash?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

This might help. It's an earlier addition from the 60s, so not as many colors as the new ones, but still, a ton of colors, and a ton cheaper! Talbot had my first thought, which was to try abe.com. Also, you might want to look on ABE or the web in general for book dealers who specialize in either gardening or English books and give a few a call. Many times they either don't have all their inventory up on ABE or they have a network of dealers / collectors / etc. that they can reach out to when you have a specific request. Good luck.

Hi Worf!

I just mailed with my mother. She says that these are big paper color charts that cost a fortunes to print and weigh a ton, and therefore have been discontinued (limited appeal for the price), and are now available on-line as a free down-load that you can print.


Now, don't get me wrong, but I suspect that your friend is looking for a really nice hardback about 6 inches thick that's gonna cost a hundred bucks to ship from the UK. Maybe this would satisfy her instead?
