I voted necktie. I do like bowties almost as much, just that neckties are more common. I'm waiting for the weather to cool abit to break out with my ascots. Right now it's so hot, I'd just get it all sweaty.

Of these, so far I've only worn regular neckties. I would, however, like to experiment with the bowtie someday, and perhaps wearing a bolo to a rodeo or some western-wear function.

Come to Calgary during the Stampede, you can't turn the street without
seeing a bolo tie and a cowboy hat!

even like it! :D;)

Actually, I've tried to do Ebay before, but it is very confusing. I don't get the whole paypal thing.

You can order from bowtieclub.com. Just download their order form, place your order and cut them a check. They have really good bowties.

I use a bolo once in awhile with no western wear and a sportcoat. It goes well and looks dressy with a fedora, regular slacks and shoes.

PS: I am going to experiment with a string or ribbon tie too. I saw an older gentleman wear one the other day and it looked sharp!

I voted for ascot, as (using the American definition/day cravat) I wear one almost every day, although I do really like bowties (during the year I wear one every Friday and most Sundays), but I have come recently to like the four in hand a bit more, mostly because I really like the knit tie I found in Italy.

I seldom wear anything around the neck any more, but when I do it's usually a regular neck tie. But I have a few bow ties, and I have ten Ascots I inherited from my late (very sporty) father-in-law. I also have a single bolo tie, actually.
I've been trying to work the bow ties into the rotation lately. (BTW, all self tied, of course.) It's taken a few attempts to not feel a little odd doing it, but now I'm cool with it. I wore one of the Ascots to Club Wits End last month, and I must admit I felt rather suave, tho I found myself incessantly adjusting it all night.
I've only ever worn the bolo tie once, last year, at the Rodeo Bar in New York. I almost got into a fight with a very drunk dude who was half my age and twice my size. I don't think it was the bolo tie's fault tho. :p

Alas I am too worried of looking like Bill Nye concerning a bow tie. The ascot, however, is rather fun to wear, especially with smoking jackets while entertaining guests. For everyday wear, i frequent the good old fashioned neck tie.

I vote for the ascot too. Nice to know there are a few other guys who like to wear them regularly like I do.

Necktie, although I don't know if that's more habit than preference. Never worn an ascot, and I can't conceive of an occasion when I would- I'm either in jacket/ tie, or modified safari, with no real in- between. I only do bowties with formal and semi- formalwear.

I wear neckties or bow ties as the occasion or outfit dictates, but my real preference is for ascots. They add a touch of class and a bit of flamboyance that sets one apart from the herd. I also find that they almost always elicit flattering compliments from the fairer sex - and at my age, my ego can certainly use all the flattering compliments I can get...

Avoid skinny batwings and lab coats ;)

I'm torn on the question. I go between wearing neckties more and wearing bowties more. I'm on the verge of having more bows, but it's only because they're really easy to make from salvaged neckties, whereas vintage-style ties are more difficult. I think I wear bows more in the winter when I'm wearing waistcoats.
