Narrow Black Silk Bowtie

Could somebody point me to a source for a narrow, black silk bowtie. Most I've found are 2-1/2" wide (that is what I have now, and I don't like it), and the narrowest I've found are 2-1/4". I would like something more like about 1-3/4" wide, or possibly narrower.

Thanks,

I prefer to tie my own, now that I've bothered to learn how, but if you want a nice 'quick and dirty' tie that matches your description, here's one:

Correct. I ordered the plain black, 1-3/4" bow tie from the above-mentioned Charleston bows.

I assumed so but thought it was worth a mention. I wear 'real' bowties too but I am a degenerate lowlife and admit I would wear a pretied one, (NOT a "CLIP ON"! even I have standards, just low ones) on occasion, especially with formal wear. It is my own childish rebellion to the ritual.

Oh please. Do you really believe that one is superior to the other?

.

When wearing a collar where the band is visible, the pretied is far superior to a clip on.

A real one is still very much superior to both, but a pre tied isn't that bad, especially if the clasp is under the collar. Their only real fault appearance wise is that the knots are always too perfect.

In a similar vein...

Am I the only one bothered by the fact you can see the little metal buck on adjustable self-tie bowties when they are worn with a wing collar?

Interestingly, the tie I provided the link to, has the hook and eye just behind the knot, or rather, at the rear edge of the knot so you cannot see it when worn. I thought that made it a little better than the pre-tied bows disdained here. Notice it being illustrated worn with a wing or standing collar where an exposed fastening would be visible. It has the usual size adjustment hidden inside the band.

I stumbled onto an _extremely_ narrow silk bow tie a week or two ago. The widest point is only 1 1/4 inches wide. Strangely, even when I shorten the length of the bow tie to the smallest amount, it's too large for my neck - I have a 15.5" neck, so not particularly small.

Most of the bow tie is regular silk, but the small part at the back allowing for adjustment of the length (which shortens/lengthens in the way braces or a bra strap do, rather than your typical bow tie) is made of a separate piece of material - appears to be grosgrain. I think I am going to shorten it a bit, as I'd love to wear it.

I think I'll mostly wear it in the style Jeremy Brett did as Holmes (see http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=39561 ).

Narrow bow tie update

So, it turns out that Charleston Bows is not able to provide anything narrower than two inches. So I am starting over.

Does anyone have a source for a silk bow tie, 1-3/4" or narrower.

Thanks,

third try is a charm ...

After my posting about the unavailability of what I wanted from Charleston Bows, one of the bartenders PM'd me with a link to an ebay sale with what appeared to be a narrow black silk bowtie. So I contacted the ebay seller for dimensions. Turns out the seller couldn't find the tie to measure it, and so had to cancel the auction.
Strike two.
A different bartender PM'd me with a link for Beau Ties Ltd.
The website was a bit hard to use, but when I e-mailed them I got a prompt response. It was suggested that I order a "Very Slim" self-tie bowtie in "Carbon Black".

I did, and a couple of weeks later (Christmas shipping delays, I assume) I received:
bowtie01.jpg

Just a bit over 1.5 inches wide, adjustable length (but the black adjuster is hard to see).
On me:

(please excuse the quality of the photos, as well as the fact that I did not bother to put on a waistcoat or jacket for the photos - I just wanted to finally get closure on my initial request)

So, third try was a charm! :eusa_clap
