Napoleonic War Reenacting Sources?

Well, not all of that re-enactment involves riders. Since I want to go as a girl and I don't know how to ride sidesaddle I think I'll be watching from the sidelines.

I guess I took lessons for about 3 years doing Western, English, and Vaulting.

I was just wondering, since I know some of you are involved in the living history circle, if anyone knew of any sources for reproductions of Napoleonic War Uniforms, the rifle regiments specifically, all I've been able to find are Shakos and reproduction Baker rifles.

Thanks!

I found the homepage of a reenactment group of the King's German Legion a couple days ago. This unit used to be a German army force containing cavalry, light infantry and artillery. The website I found is focused on the rifle brigade of the Legion. I think they might have some good information for you. If you are interested let me know,
Cheers,
Christoph

I liked the "Markham of the Marines" series (which was only on book 3 last time I checked :( ) by the Midshipman Bolitho author. It has the best of both worlds, a Rifle officer in charge of Lobsterbacks.

I've always half-considered getting a Baker since I like the Sharpes series, but til I found this thread I never thought to look for one. Which turned out harder than it seems it should.

If you've got more money than time, you can build your own Baker, including sword bayonet.

If you've got more money than me you can buy one assembled. :D

I can buy a reasonably priced Hawken or Kentucky replica in almost any sporting goods store or even through Cabelas but nobody makes a Baker?

You'd think the Italians would jump on it, it can't be any harder than the other stuff they build.

My dear, you and I will learn to ride sidesaddle. Sooooon. I will look into the details!

And those ladies! Very haute but with that breeze whipping around, they look like they could use something more substantial than that little floaty shawl. A good wool pelisse would answer.

This is probably my favorite period for uniforms as well -- so smart. I'm partial to those Royal Navy uniforms. The French uniforms are exquisite, but I'm not sure I'd want to have to compete with my beaux for most extravagantly dressed! ;)
