I couldn't resist floating a bid on OFAS with the price at $22.00....not sure which model it is, but it's an Open Road style with a bound edge:

Any bets on what model it is? Seems like if it were an Open Road, the seller probably would have noted that - he listed all the other imprints in the sweatband and the words Open Road usually appear on the sweatband.[huh] If it's actually a western hat and not an Open Road, it will be unlike any Stetson I've seen in some time.

But I think it will make a decent buy, even with the excessive shipping charge...which I'll try to talk down.

I really doubt it's an Open Road, Pilgrim. While it's indeed true that ORs came in a wide array of specs (brim widths, crown heights, bow treatments, colors, felt grades, etc., etc., etc.), I've yet to see one without a bound edge (unless my eyes are fooling me, your recent acquisition has a raw edge) or with that type of ribbon and bow.
Looks like a nice chunk o' felt. Oughta make for a great addition to the collection.

Interesting....in the topside photo, I can clearly see SOMETHING around the brim - perhaps a line of stitching? I thought it was bound until the posts above prompted me to take a sharper look....and it's not. Also, the 3" brim (if measured correctly - which is always a question) is wider than an Open Road.

Hey Tinmanzzz, do you know any more about the Rancher style?

Yeah, 3 inches is a tad wider than any OR I've encountered, but I do happen to have one that measures 2 and 7/8s inches. That little extra bit of width gives it a considerably more Western look than its oh-so-slightly narrower brethren. As little as a quarter or even an eighth of an inch of brim width can make a big difference in a hat's effect.
