Good on you! Isn't it amazing to create clothing for yourself? I really like all your items, however the first picture with the cardigan and the skirt is my favorite. Is the skirt paisley?

Thanks for sharing!

I dont know if you would call this a paisley, but here is the fabric I used. I love it. I also used what was lefto ver from the circle skirt to line the black suit jacket.

Boy, I'd be lucky to have one item to show off. You created a whole wardrobe in less than six months. I can't even shop for a whole new wardrobe in that amount of time.

BTW, I have a new favorite--the white one with the black rick rack. That is beyond adorable.

And I love your poses! The scarf one is the best!

I am so jealous over here, both of the wardrobe and your ability to make it!! You look swell!

What she said! I have commented previously here in the Powder Room that, although I have many talents, I cannot sew to save my life. I am duly impressed by those of you who can. Plus, you are just all-around adorable. Lovely work, LD!!

Ok, I'll bite. I don't sew, so all of mine are purchased. And, sadly, I don't have many pictures of me wearing any of my civilian vintage stuff!

I found this dress at an estate sale for $5, the hat was $1 at the same sale. The accessories were also picked up at various sales.

This dress also came from an estate sale, $8. It is a very lightweight cotton and the embroidered design actually has what I call "ventilation holes" so it is perfect for Texas summer!

Here's a rather cruddy shot of me (on the right) at a recent event. It says proof because someone has that on their website for sale! I found that pretty amusing. lol Annnnyyyyway... again I'm wearing an estate sale mixture.

Ditto what Lady Day said--ForthWorth Gal, that is a tremendous dress! You look like you stepped out of a time machine.

And what deals! Much better than anything on eBay!

Picking up on this thread from another thread...

Those look fantastic! Make me wish I hadn't given away my old Singer. Not that I'd ever be able to accomplish anything quite like that. Good job Lady!

Ladyday, those are so wonderful! Makes me want to dust off my sewing machine, I put it away in September when I moved and haven't seen it since! You inspire me!:D

Thanks :D but I dont think I have the patience to make garments for other people. THat and folks dont often understand how much work goes into a garment that is custom made.

People have asked and I quote them a price (not including fabric or notions) and they go  "Wow that much?! I thought like $50!"

Me: "Um, no. Not $50. You heard me correct the first time."

Thanks Emmababy for your comments as well. The jackets do take longer than anything. I guess basic shirt construction takes me a while. The dresses at the top took about a day to make and finish (10 hrs).

The skirts are a bout 4-6 hrs each depending on the detail, weather I put in a zipper, or if there is a special way I want it to close.

THe jackets take about 2 days because the linings are hand sewn into the garment. But thats quick, cause I dont like to spennd longer than 3 days on a garment. Id go crazy!

LD :)
