my visit to the jacket tailor today

Nave, the textile version looks kinda like a suit coat. On the drawing it looks awesome. I'm sure the leather will lift it into the sci-fi levels but suits scare me.

hehe :D, I also look sad in a suit.
but once the edges is finished with piping, and the collar shape is fixed, and some antiqued eyelets installed, hopefully it steers away from sleazy leather suit style  hopefully

just a little update as all the tidbits are all there :D I bring home a cutout of the leather and playing around with it to see how it will age and crease, quite waterproof and oilproof as I have tested with water and conditioner, the rest are wood buttons (big ones for front, smaller ones for cuff and rear flap, small ones for backing) and simple orange liner, 2 kind of thread one just the same color with the leather , and tan thread for accent.

Today I visited them to try on my prototype
there are something yet to be added like chest pockets, sleeve zipper position, and some elements need readjustments
but the general look is very snug and awesome, I particularly being blown away with how perfect the shoulder and neck area

some of my input:
- lower waist of the jacket need to be a tad bigger as even when they actually fit around my hip yet the jacket easily bunched up after I move around a little, and the leather won't be heavy/ thick enough to keep it straight.
- main zipper need to be shorter, this is too long since it won't be a dual zipper, so this would probably scratch my tank if not made higher.
- sleeve needs to be 2 cm longer
-made correction for the chest pocket shape

Please give me your opinion about the fit... I like a snug jacket, and it is going to be light weight leather (goat)
satin lining on the sleeve, and heavier lining on the body.
all hardware are going to be silver.

BTW with the same set of clothes I compare it with the fit of my other jackets

earlier today I was sent this picture :D maybe just maybe it would be finished for the new year eve, perhaps... this is killing me...
I wish the tristate area still has little workshops like this, none of the usual suspects care about touching leather anymore, no jackets, no shoes (for jackets, the Chinese, the Mexicans, the Polish, for shoes, the Italians, the Israelis, the Koreans, nobody cares).

it is a small company owned by the ex neighbor of my mother, they made leather jackets and bags for export (or still I don't know), their own jacket models is (or are? I only see one model in several colors ready stock) very roomy raglan shoulder, roomy sleeve with snap cuff, leather coated elasticized waistband, handwarmers made of Sheepskin (without the wool), however they can make any models based on other jacket or in my case drawing and description and several visits whenever they send me picture then it means I should go there to see or try on.

the wood button is etched maybe originally as 4 holes button as the pattern suggests, however I chose the 2 holes version.

today I was whatsapp-ed to come and try on the completed leather shell before the liner can be joined

and here is the liner shell with the other half of the kidney panel, kidney panel would have 3 pairs of buttons on the side, that's why the lower back is still unfinished on the leather shell I tried on.

the logo is just for fun, my younger brother and I are regular customers so one day I designed a logo for fun, my brother then have it molded into a press template and left it with the tailor, so whenever he or I order stuff we would have our own logo stamped, can be read as Mar (his name is martin) or Nav (as my usual pen-name)

Looks incredible!!! Beautiful hide and details. I keep staring at the shoulder seam and collar. Looks like 30lbs of leather. Awesome!!!

thanks G'c and thanks Ton, I'm very happy with how it turns out, finally the collar shape and height is precisely what I like with this one, not too high that presses the back of my helmet (yeah lately I wear helmet because the police is everywhere:eek:) or my neck when I ride, or too low that make it look more like a vest than a jacket. at least after 4 trials I'm very happy with this one.

finally I have it home :D 99% finished, but they don't have eyelets ready, and I can leave the jacket there waiting for eyelets, but hell no I brought it home, will check a week from now if they have stock or if I haven't changed my mind by then:D

Congrats!! Really love it! It looks so unique while still looking very good. A very difficult feat to achieve! :D :D :D

thank you, already changed to pajama pants but the jacket still worn over a tshirt hahaha:D:D I'm very thankful to the people who made my simple drawing into something real through their craftmanship, and the generous cow whose skin I'm wearing over mine. God Bless them all, and may that cow reborn as a beautiful horse in the next life

I must say this is quite amazing and the fact that you had seen this through since its inception is pretty impressive. Congrats on this awesome jacket! Fit is good and interesting use of buttons!

thank you, it is my first jacket with buttons, to wear to places where my usual jacket would make 2 seats next to me left empty :( like in the church... hopefully it looks more friendly :)
