My Stetson Revenger and Rain

Ive heard a lot of talk about how Stetsons bleed in the rain. I got stuck in an unseasonable rain shower last night for an hour. Mind you it was 48 degrees. My Stetson Revenger before and after the rain. I set it out and turned down the sweatband. I dont know when they discontinued this hat but Im sold. BTW its only a 3X beaver...

I believe we came to a consensus that Stetson's Western hats fare better than their fedoras. And the bleeding is by no means universal.

I have a similar Stetson, purchased it in late 1974 early 75, I acutally spotted it a few minutes before my father did. It had a different hatband, some kind of embossed plastic that looked like tooled leather. I wore it some for a few years, then Dad bought a black one like it. That was when I realized he liked it so well, so I gave it to him. Eventually he sent it to a hatter, had it cleaned, reblocked and new liner sand sweatband installed and got a couple of more years out of it before he died, when I got it back. I put it away for a few years, then after getting involved in this forum got the idea and carried it back to the hatter who had done the previous work and had that plastic hatband removed and a brown ribbon about 1 1/4-1 3/8" applied and really made a classy looking hat out of it. I have probably worn it more in the last couple of years than in the previous 36 years it has been in the family.

One of Dad's other more narrow brimed westerns was converted to a thin ribbon fedora style.
