He still grows at his age, so it's fine.

Having a savile row bespoke tailored suit will cost a small fortune and won't "perfectly" fit in a few years.

Again, what sense does a "bespoke" high-priced (compared to vintage) suit make for a 14-year old that will outgrow it within due time?

I would have been glad if my first suit (at 18) would have been a nice vintage one - plenty memorable and quality.

Because they are truly personal. They are made for you and only for you. But then, yes, they're more expensive, though not as expensive as before when they cost £1000 average. You can get them at half of that price (some even less than half) with the same quality.

Very sensible way of getting him his first suit. Saville Row can wait until he is over twenty and tended to stop growing - unless money is not a concern.

I double checked: I was wrong, it has a single interior pocket on the right.

Thanks for doing that - confirms the general thought on detail of suits at that time. I guess some will have had a ticket pocket on the left as well although given that your son has an MTM (at least or bespoke) the original owners preference would be relevant.

Does your son use the fob pocket or even now want one on all his trousers? That would be interesting given he is a 'novice' to the detail of the time.

He never carries anything anyway: he's the only 14 year old I know who doesn't even bother to carry his mobile phone!
