My Schott 519 in Brown – Thoughts, Fit, and My Growing Collection

Hello fellow leather enthusiasts,

I wanted to share my thoughts on the Schott 519 in Brown (Size L) and how it fits compared to other Schott jackets I own. Over the years, I have built a collection of Schott jackets, including:

  • Schott 626 in L
  • Schott 689H in 42
  • Schott Perfecto 1 in M
  • Schott 740C in 42
  • Schott 118 in 42
  • Schott 141 in 42
  • Schott 570 in L
  • And now, finally, my dream jacket: the Schott 519 in L (Brown, Factory Sale)

I always trusted Schott NYC’s online size guide, which worked well for my 626 in L, but unfortunately, the 519 in L turned out to be larger than expected. It has an amazing fit and finish, but I believe an M would have been a better choice for me. The cost of alterations in my area is quite high (around €400), so I’m currently figuring out the best solution.

I have started creating content on YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram to help others find their perfect Schott jacket size and see how these fantastic jackets look in real life, especially since it's difficult to try them on in stores here in Germany. If anyone is interested in the Schott 519 (or any of the jackets I own), my video might be helpful:

519 L brown:

I’d love to hear from anyone who also owns a 519—how does it compare to your other Schott jackets? And for those considering it, feel free to ask me anything about the fit, details, and differences compared to other models.

Looking forward to your thoughts!

Best regards,
Yasin

I really shouldn’t be replying to what’s obviously a prompt for a content mill but I will say this: if your size in the other Schott jackets is what you say, there is no way the 519 in M would fit you.

Thank you for your input! I just wanted to clarify that my post wasn’t meant as an advertisement for my content, but rather as a way to help those who are currently considering buying a Schott 519. Since there isn’t much information available, I thought my experience might be useful to others who are trying to decide on sizing.

If the 519 in L fits me as shown in my video and feels too large, I’m quite confident that the M would be a much better fit for me.

I really appreciate your response nonetheless—thanks for taking the time to reply!

Leather looks great. I thought they shortened the 519 length though, this one appears on the longer side still (but still look good)
"Thank you! The leather on this one is indeed fantastic. I also thought the 519 had been shortened, but this one does seem a bit longer than expected. It could be due to slight variations in production or just how it fits on my frame. Either way, I’m really happy with how it looks and feels!"

There is a ton of sizing information on this jacket and others on the same patterns here on TFL.

I’m quite confident that it would not. The 519 is cut on the 613S pattern, which is about a half-size down from the 613 pattern. So: 519 in M = 613S(H) in 40 = 613 in 39 = 118 in 37.

Given your existing jacket sizes, listed below, there is no way the M would fit you.

  • Schott 626 in L
  • Schott 689H in 42
  • Schott Perfecto 1 in M
  • Schott 740C in 42
  • Schott 118 in 42
  • Schott 141 in 42
  • Schott 570 in L
  • And now, finally, my dream jacket: the Schott 519 in L (Brown, Factory Sale)

"Thank you for the detailed breakdown, I really appreciate the insight! I’m aware that the 519 follows the 613S pattern, but my experience with different Schott jackets has shown me that fit can sometimes be unpredictable depending on the specific model, leather, and how it breaks in over time.

While I understand the technical sizing comparisons, the 519 in L feels noticeably larger on me than I expected. That’s why I believe the M could work better, though of course, it would be a close call.

Also, just because I own jackets in these sizes doesn’t mean they all fit me perfectly. For example, my 141 in 42 is actually a bit too big for me, whereas the 626 in L fits me best. Based on my experience with different models, I had expected the 519 in L to work well, but as seen in my video, that’s not entirely the case.

Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to try on a 613S(H) in 40 yet, so I can’t compare directly, but I appreciate you sharing this information. If I ever get the opportunity to try the 519 in M, I’ll be sure to report back with my findings. Thanks again for your input!

I didn’t assume they all fit perfectly but you’re not just one size away. And the 626 has a completely different shape to other Perfectos so it’s irrelevant.

Irrelevant? Guess we see things differently. Still, thanks for stopping by!

Irrelevant to sizing patterns from a completely different block, yes.

You’re getting free research from us for your influencer channels so no need to be so rude about getting free information.

Interesting take. I’m just sharing my experience and what works for me, which is exactly what everyone else here does. If that’s 'free research' for my channels, then I guess every discussion in this forum is free research for someone. But hey, thanks for your input!

I appreciate the feedback! I see what you mean about the first few minutes – I wanted to highlight the details of the jacket, but I get that it might be too much for some viewers. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for future videos and focus more on spoken commentary.

As for the length, I made this video a bit longer because I noticed there weren’t many reviews of the 519 in brown, and for people who don’t have a Schott dealer nearby, I wanted to provide a more detailed look at the jacket. And yeah, you’re right about the fit – it turned out bigger than I expected.

Thanks for watching and for the constructive input!
