Boyfriend has since won the lottery, is no longer poor, and everyone agrees that both his hat and his head look just right.

Boy he wishes. What really happened is they got him three more hats and they all looked the same, so they took him out and shot him.

But seriously, Miss_Bella_Hell, bless you for working on this and not just telling him to get a baseball cap.

Speaking as someone who has had a lot of difficulty getting the right hat and finally resorted to going to a hatmaker for some styling, part of the battle is accepting you can't always wear the styles that made you fall in love with hats in the first place. Like, um, pretty much everybody I love the Indiana Jones but I look like a tool in it: I don't have the head for that kind of hat.

I spent ages trying on variations of the same from Akubra, etc. Once I relaxed and accepted I could admire them but not pull them off, it opened me up to other possibilities.
