Well, gee, I really cannot say which is my favorite. I like them both. If pressed, I would have to say the boater because it is more of a classic style.
Finding them is another story. I had to look long and hard to find them in 7 5/8 and in good condition. The boater is a Stetson Medalist and the Skimmer is a Dobbs. I think they are still being made and there was a link on the Lounge somewhere to the seller.
You will probably want to go to a 7 1/2 if you are a 7 3/8 long oval for sure because they are more round than they are oval. ;) The other thing is that the oval and size differs from manufacturer to manufacturer and even within models. [huh] In vintage I would stick with either a Stetson or Dobbs because they have fit me the best with my extra long oval.

It actually looks pretty good. The weave is not exactly like mine but the general dimensions are. I like the ribbon. It is very authentic looking. They even make them in popular sizes. ;)
They are about 500 miles south of me so it is not likely I can drop into their store and take a look. Maybe if I am in the area I can check it out though. I knew someone was still selling these hats. I know there are still a few people out there that like to wear them---I mean besides me. :p
