My new place

Well, the apartment's coming along nicely. I've got my office, laundry room, spare bedroom, and bathroom left, they're all primed, just need to be painted and I'm a busy guy and haven't found the time. But I digress. Here's some pics of before/after.

What the...Oh my God!! lol

I had to look extra hard, but wow...that's incredible! That would make having a shower so much fun!

AETom, I think your little abode looks very cosy and retro. Although I admit I'm not sure about the state of the floors. They look rather worn and in need of replacement. But I must say, I love the setup you have in your bedroom!

I have that same blender hanging around someplace! I took the motor out (carefully, it could still be reinstalled) and used it as a bowl for my beta in college.

Sadly, Milkshake died and I haven’t had a fish since.

Your place looks great.

Dear Tom,
Congratulations! Looks just_like_you! Here's a compliment: I'm old enough (born 1953) to remember that world. Your recreation looks just like I remember.

We will charitably assume that Bud Light box in the kitchen was used in the move as a packing box  Hope the 'gun is there, waiting to be used next duck season, not to greet the neighbors.....

Enjoy! and thanks for sharing!

Binkie -
I'd love to go all out, but I'm just renting. The landlord (Mom and Dad own the building) wouldn't even allow me to have a high tank toilet!

Thank you for your compliments, not a bad start for a 19 year old kid, eh? I know the flooring's a bit ratty looking. I already have a guarantee that the kitchen floor's indoor/outdoor carpeting will be replaced with nice linoleum, I have already picked out. The other stuff, I'm going to take the carpet cleaner to and if it comes out, I'll be alright, if not, I'll replace it.

Dave-
Thank you, and that's a very clever idea with the blender.

I've missed you most of all scarecrow haha. I'm glad you like the place! The Bud Light box was in fact a moving box my ma gave me. I'm a Pabst or Whiskey or Rum kinda guy myself. My dad gave me that coach gun and a Rossi .357 Revolver that I wear at work. I'm working for him in the morning at or gun store, then second shift at the plant, and then I'm 'night watchmen' and first response for the security system while at home, since I live right upstairs.

Thank you again everyone!!!

Thank you JB, and they're not even all here yet :)

Shangas -

I forgot to mention about the bedroom set. That's not the complete set, there's another upright dresser and another twin sized bed that goes to it. The set is a Basset set my grandparents bought new in 1956. It's all in fantastic shape, although I do want a new mattress, this one's from 1960.

That actually is a nice, retro-looking place, and that's a great telephone collection you've got there!

Sadly at the moment none of them are hooked up, as I have no landline yet, but when I do, there will be one in each room and possibly two in the living room.

Looks pretty cool. I'm a bit of a telephone collector myself. I have an AE40 sitting right here next to the computer. It's a fun contrast. I have about a half dozen phones from the '20's to the '60's hooked up around the house. My husband has a cordless phone but I seldom use it.

Keep it up. There needs to be as many of us as possible to preserve the history.

That's a nice apartment; I like what you've done with the place!

I also like your phones. What kind of radio is that in the living room? Where did you get that one? Does it work?

Fountain Pen Girl-
Thank you very much. It's good to hear I'm not the lone phone collector here. We've got Brinybay too. I just bought an AE40 this weekend at a thrift store, but it has a frequency ringer, so I need to get a straight-line ringer before it'll ding nice and loud for me.

Amatesgal -

Thank you, I will also be posting more pics as I keep cleaning the place up.

Scion-

Thank you about the apartment and the telephones. The radio in my living room is a 1951 Silvertone, the capacitors are shot, it's on my to-do list. But working 2 jobs puts that stuff on the backburner :)

Also, I just bought a console Zenith Radio, Turntable, 8 Track, the case is mint, the radio works, the turntable and 8-track do not. Which upsets me, I bought it because I was told it had a working 8-track and mine just broke, leaving me with 30-some 8-tracks and no way to listen to them, but I digress.

Arrah, Tom, the feeling's mutual! Who knows, some day perhaps we'll be lucky enough to raise a stein (and/or take a hunt) together. All I can say is: you're walking the walk, kid: working at a gun shop, a factory, and ready to defend the homestead. You really WERE born after your time....

Keep up the good work, and keep on posting the results!

"Skeet"

If you've ever seen any pictures of me, you'll know how ludicrous "scarecrow" is..... :)
