So I sold my Aero Leather Hercules and contacted Wade at Insurrection Leather.

After much discussion about my measurements and what I was looking for, Wade suggested I try the Aero 1930s Half Belt in a Size 38 (I measure a Size 39), but he assured me that if I didnt like the jacket for any reason I could return it and we could order a different size. Wade said that Aero tends to size this jacket a little big so it should be a good fit, especially given my other measurements.

I got the jacket today, tried it on and all I can say is Wade was dead on. The jacket feels great.

Here are some pics.

This jacket was slightly customized by Insurrection Apparel, www.insurrectionvintage.com to be period exact according to Wade.

Thanks Wade!

OK let the games begin!

Pardon my lack of knowledge about jackets of this style; I'm just learning. Aren't the sleeves a bit too long?

No problem. Actually because I have a tendency to "cuff" my hands, which I just noticed in the pics it makes the sleeves look long, but when I'm driving and my arms are extended the cuff rides up and ends right at my wrist, which is where I like it. Also from what I've been told, given that this jacket is FQHH when it breaks in and folds in the arms it will ride up a little bit.

Beautiful. Funny how I seem to like a minimalistic approach just as much as some of the heavily modded items.
I think the breast pocket looks much better with an angle than it does horizontal.

Thanks. The Jacket feels great, now all I have to do is break it in.

Dave, the jacket looks great on you and appears to be a good fit. The button cuffs should aid in keeping the sleeves from dropping down too low until creasing occurs. I think that sometimes we are a bit too exacting in our critique of how a jacket should fit.

That's a great looking jacket - I personally like my sleeves on the long side. I am jealous - I have tried one on, and that is a fantastic jacket. Congratulations.

Jimmer,

Thanks. I can't recommend Wade and Insurrection enough. He really helped me through the process. I am a newb when it comes to these jackets and he has seen and touched so many. Also Van helped me as well with his expert first hand guidance.

Wow. New favorite.

I have the exact same chest measurement as you (39). Depending on the amount of tax money I get back this year (if any) this one might be a contender. If possible, may I have permission to bite off your style and order the same specs as yours? (Probably a cotton lining though).
