Just got this . Very happy with it Don't know the age of this, its not vintage as such but any clues to exact aging?. It is a genuine flyers jacket and I love it already so try not to slag it off. :rolleyes:

Looks like DLA line shows 1982 date of manufacture. Odd straps on the back, can they be removed?

That's a nice looking jacket. I noticed those straps too...I've never seen that before. It looks like they allow you to fold the waist knit in half. Interesting feature although I'm sure why you'd want to...still, handsome jacket. Congrats!

...They could be removed but they would leave holes and the waist knit would have to be replaced. The thing is , why would I want to remove them?

The snaps were placed there specificly by the pilot to attach to his flight pants! removing them would be criminal! Like getting a really nice WWII A2 and taking all the rank, paint, patches and blood chits off :eek:

I've been told the pilot Wilson flew choppers with coastal Command thats all I could glean.
