My "New" Aero....what is it?

I was on vacation in the Outer Banks and saw a BIN on ebay for a size 40 Aero Pioneer in Black FQHH. It didn't look like a Pioneer to me, it looked more like a Teamster. When I requested measurements, I was given a BOC measurement of 28-inches and I assumed I was right about the Teamster. Since it was BIN and it was a great price, I grabbed it figuring I could flip it here if I didn't like it. It arrived today and apparently the back measurement included the collar. The actual measurements are P-2-P = 23, Shoulders = 19, Sleeves = 25, and BOC = 26.5. It fits pretty well and feels trimmer than it looks in the photos due to the slim sleeves and higher armholes. It is missing a "football" button (this was in the ebay listing) and I wasn't sure if I was going to replace the football button or replace them all with some high quality traditional buttons.
I'm not really a black leather guy but I teach culinary arts and my "uniform" is black pants and a chef jacket and I thought a longer black leather jacket (of Aero quality) would be a smart purchase. It is a great looking jacket, but isn't long enough for the intended purpose and I will probably look to sell here rather than ship it back to England.

What model jacket is this?

Looks like a "short" Teamster, maybe a Maxwell. My size 42 Teamster has a back length of 28.5" (collar seam to end of jacket). As a frame of reference, I am 6'2" tall. Fantastic find for you!

I'm good with the fit (and I haven't even pulled in the waist straps yet), but wanted a longer coat and I'm very curious to know what model jacket it is.

I thought Aero didn't come out with the "Maxwell" till just recently? Actually, I thought it was a design offered just thru Thruston Bros. recently.
Sure doesn't look like mine.

Looks like an older variant of the "Teamster", with leather buttons.

Looks good on you. My guess is a Teamster, probably a good few years old, but cut deliberately short. As a matter of interest, what's the measurement from the hem to the bottom of the half belt? It's 7.5" on my 40.

I have the same buttons on mine, but I thought leather lined cuffs were standard on the Teamster, as on mine.

Having said all that, it could maybe be a Stuart because of the length and the cuffs, but HD could tell you for sure.

Doubt it is a "Stuart".
I may be wrong here, but I understood the Stuart to be the basis for the Maxwell design..both using Aero's "slim" body style.
This doesn't look like one of Aero's "Slim" designs.

Looks great on you! I like the length. A keeper.

The Stuart had a plain back and no horizintal seams across the chest - plain front with left breast pocket. The jacket illustrated definitely appears to be a short Teamster with the bi-swing back and horizintal seams across the chest. The Maxwell has a plain front and back, very similar to the Stuart.

The measurement from the hem to the bottom of the half belt on my 42 Teamster with 28.5" back is 8.25 inches. I am almost certain that you have a short Teamster. I am certain that you have found yourself a bargain. Now, just get the missing button replaced.

I think there was only one prototype official Short Teamster which was sold recently, but it looked a bit different to this.

From what Fanch says about the Stuart, and given the shorter lower back measurement, my bet's back on a chopped down Teamster, modded under the old regime. It actually looks a good few years old.

And the previous owner wore it in for you.

I do like the worn in part. My only other Aero FQHH has only been worn about 15 times and still looks pretty new. It is very stiff. This one is heavy, but quite soft and looks like it's been my jacket for 5-10 years. The buttons on the cuffs are a bit worn, but there is none of the worn/frayed leather that often shows up on jackets with some wear on them.

man, what sort of doofus includes the collar!?

It does look right on you Grayland but if the length isn't what you're wanting then I guess it'll have to go, which in this case, is a genuine damn shame.
