Hi,

after seeing JanSolo's superb Cheyenne I could not resist. I considered the Mariner, but finally decided for the Cheyenne.
Jan helped me a lot with his suggestions, thank you very much!!
Thanks also go to southerwayfare and HoosierDaddy. Your advice is truly invaluable gentlemen!

I would also like to say thanks to Mark Moye, who has those good quality images that helped a lot when choosing the leather:

Finally it has to be said, that I had so much fun with the always very helpful Amanda during the process, I might just get another jacket for that reason alone.

That jacket now arrived. Here are the Specs:

- Aero Cheyenne size 42
- mid-weight Seal "Jerky" A2-Horsehide
- Lochcarron Reiver "Scotland Forever" Tartan lining over an Alpacca Wool lining
- green (B10 outer shell) gabardine lining for the sleeves
- plain, two piece back (instead of standard three-piece)
- curved yoke (like on the Highwayman)
- slighty bigger collar
- OD green contrast stitching
- throat latch with push-button closure
- No handwarmer pockets
- No storm cuffs
- slightly bigger outside pockets
- scalloped pocket flaps
- hidden press buttons on the pockets (A-2 style)
- outside pockets lined with Corduroy
- two vertical inside pockets in the facings with press button closure
- button closure on the cuffs like on the Cossack
- Name Tag on the inside

My other Aero's are all FQHH and this one is considerably lighter, despite the double lining throughout. It's also quite pliable, without looking very vulnerable.

What a great jacket and an excellent choice of lining. I think it matches perfectly with the mid-weight horse-hide. Enjoy breaking the jacket in and please post some pics after a couple of months wear!

Great looking Cheyenne. It's good to see some close up pictures of Aero's lighter weight hide. It's quite a spec though, how long did you have to wait once it was ordered?

Cheers

WOW!!! What a cool jacket! It turned out so well!! There are so many little bits and pieces in your jacket that really make sense. The 1930s HB cuffs look so cool as do the much trimmer sleeves. The pocket flaps look much more scalloped than on my jacket...they are beautiful. The lining is awesome. The fit seems to be dead on and the choice of mid weight seal hh matches the style of that jacket very well. It appears to be a neat and trim fitting jacket although it sports that alpaca bias lining. All in all it captures every considerable aspect of an upscale 1930s Monarch or Sears jacket. Perfect!
Just imagine how that jacket might look a couple of years down the road...

I envy you (a bit).

BTW: Who made it? Janet or Moira?

Sweet jacket. Love the color! :arated:
Im also waiting on a similar one all thanks to JanSolos cool looking cheyenne.

They haven't started making mine yet so I have a couple of questions about some things. Sorry to bombard you with questions. lol

What is your chest measure?
Mine is 38.2" and Amanda recommends a 38 for me.

What is the purpose of this double lining? For looks? (looks great)

I don't understand this at all. But I´m very interested in what it is?
Some way to close it with the collar up if its windy?

What is the benefit of this?

Why is this better then pistol-type pocket?

Im actually gonna go for inside storm cuffs. Its really gonna help in the cold days. Where I live it can suddenly get ice cold from one day to another and a couple of weeks ago I was so glad I had them on my current jacket.

Oh, and when did you order the jacket? :p

Hi folks,

thanks for the friendly comments everyone!

@Cooperson: 11 weeks
@JanSolo: again, I would have missed out on half the goodies, if it weren't for your advice! I have to admit the sleeves are very tight on the wrists, but I'll do my best to stretch them... And the jacket was made by Moira. I can't find a single irregularity anywhere. The last one was made by Janet, which was also very good but not flawless (very minor things I don't mind anyway).

and now for you:

No problem, keep asking.

chest measures 104cm = 41"

Amanda suggested 42 on this model

No, the Alpaca adds warmth and the worsted wool tartan protects the Alpaca, which is a bit quicker to wear through.

Exactly.Probably not essential, but I just don't want it to fold down in very ugly conditions, once the leather has become soft.

It just feels very nice and warm :)

GriffDeLaGriff said:

Because the leather pocket doesn't drag on the lining. I also think the opening is just where it's supposed to be for a natural movement.

Killer jacket. The lining matches up with the hide

color beautifully. Trim fit. I'm starting to like a button front more and more, so your Cheyenne front is very interesting to me. All in all, a splendind jacket, eClairvaux. :eusa_clap Thanks for the pics.

Thanks for the answers.

Is it possible for you to post a pic with the throat thingy snapped?
Closing the collar in some way has been on my mind for very long now
since this is gonna be a fall/winter jacket for me.
This simple but smart solution feels like an early x-mas gift :D

Do you have the measurements? It's a wonderful jacket, with a lot of thought behind it. What doesn't work about it for you?

the sleeves are 65 cm in length (outside at the top of the shoulder to where it hits the hand), it's 65cm across the back from where the arm pit would be to the other one, but keep in mind it's got a double lining). the back is 81cm long from the seam to the collar down.

I love this jacket, my decision to sell it hasn't got anything to do with it.
