Congrats! Looks like it needs a bit of brushing...let us know how it turns out when you receive it.

From the listing - "FEEDBACK : I will post feedback for all items after the buyer has confirmed they are satisfied with their purchase. If you have any issues with your item, please contact me immediately. As you will see by my feedback, I do everything in my power to keep my customers happy."

Don't you hate that? As a buyer, your responsibility is to pay. Once you've paid quickly, the seller should leave you feedback. You've done your job. I hate the "eBay feedback dance".

I don't agree. Once the buyer has paid...that's it. He/she should get good feedback...he/she's fullfilled his/her only responsibility.

Who should give feedback first, and why?

Yeah, feedback dances are annoying but impossible to control. I paid instantly so have kept my side of the bargain. I've had almost completely good experiences with ebay with the exception of one item that never arrived and when I tried to complain found that the seller had been banned. Otherwise everyone else has been great but being that all sellers are different there is no predicting.
It does look like a nice hat and hoping to see how the real thing looks.

I think some sellers have been burned by over-anxious buyers who are ready and able to ding a seller for any little thing. I read some of the comments and one buyer was mad because he did not get his item until a week after purchase. They want to be sure you are absolutely satisfied so you won't ding them on the feedback forum.

I am very wary of leaving bad feedback and take great pains to find out what is going on: one seller got pneumonia and was hospitalized, one seller got hijacked by some kid who sent obscene messages to the buyers. I knew it could not have come from the seller, who was a 62-year-old grandmother and her ebay selling was her only job. She was devastated that someone had did that and got about 10 negative responses from buyer before I emailed her and told her how to contact ebay and file a complaint. Ebay took the negative comments off and she got another i.d.

I think this "feedback dance," then, probably comes from sellers who have been burned by trigger-happy buyers.

Revenge feedback

Not too long ago I purchased a hat on eBay. I wrote the sellers
twice to plead with them to protect the hat. They dropped it in
a usps priority box and sent it off. It required some reblocking (could have
been worse!). Add to this that they had guessed the size wrong
(it was written in the sweat band- such a common form of
ignorance or laziness!) and that they ignored my followup email, and
I left neutral feedback. Not negative, mind you, but neutral.

Even though I had paid promptly and communicated clearly, which
is, to me, the whole of the responsibility of the buyer, they left me neutral
"revenge" feedback. Unfortunately eBay makes it very hard to remove
or challenge unjustified sour grapes feedback. Not a perfect system.

ebay feedback

i have 700 positive ebay feedbacks, a 99.7 rating or so; i NEVER give negative or neutral feedback even when the buyer or seller is trying to rip me off. i try to recoup what i can through ebay and leave the feedback out of it. that's why my feedback is good. what can i tell you, works for me, doesn't really help the system. would be 100% if Iknew this early on. the rating is worth more than the rare scoundrel who takes advantage of you.

Well the hat arrived promptly though packed in a flat box with a crushed crown. The soft felt reshaped just fine but I was dissapointed to find that the I had misinterpreted the photo and this hat has a stingy brim! I tend to prefer fairly wide brimmed fedoras of 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 or so.This one has a 2 inch brim and the crown is fairly low too giving the hat a small appearance even though the sweat fits nicely. Might wear it a little but most likely will find a friend who's face it fits better. Nice felt, liner, ribbon and sweat though.

Photos can be so deceptive -- I have purchased hats that were stingier-brimmed than I thought, and have since learned to ask the seller what the measurements are. Also, color can be deceptive, even when the seller tells you what the color is. I once purchased what looked like butter-golden cowboy boots and, when they arrived, I found they were a ghastly orange. I was able to exchange them.

Some of the folks on the lounge have taught me to ask for measurements, even when the seller tells you what the size is.
