classic small town Indiana festival.

Well..it's a little bigger than most. Three towns involved in the festivities. Thousands of people stroll through from all over the country...and even overseas...on Thursday,Friday,Saturday and Sunday. Two huge car shows...motorcycle show and rallies(last year there was more than a thousand bikes on Sunday)...'50s rock n roll bands...JD lookalike contest...museums..tours...parades...all weekend.

Wow! I wouldn't have expected that!! Beautiful home :)

Rue...He was raised here by his Aunt and Uncle. Of course the home was added on to as Dean reached the height of his popularity. His cousin who owns it is a millionaire(Marcus Winslow) from JD merchandising. He now owns the full JD brand. To the left of this photo is a large pond with high banks..full of catfish( I've fished it many times). In fact..I was once married to JD's cousin who's the mother of my oldest daughter. It's amazing how the $$ still flows into the James Dean estate so long after his death.

I knew he was raised by his aunt and uncle, but I had no idea that he lived on such a beautiful piece of land.

It always amazes me how much money the famous deceased make for the family left behind.

How neat that you know them!

Yep JD used to come to my Grandmother's house for her Sunday dinners while he was in high school...and a short while after(he was a friend of my Uncle). I believe he graduated in '48 or'49. I met him as a small child. At that time he wore a burr haircut and what seemed like thick glasses. Kinda little guy...not so much like the Rebel Without A Cause until he shed the lenses and added the pompadour. He was quiet..but funny as I recall.

Ha...rue..
Well that town isn't very big..and I did happen to be in the same vicinity at the same time...lol

..and don't forget 'Garfield's' creator! I went to school with him. I suppose than may be kind of amazing from a little town of only a few thousand, tho.
