Well, hopefully it is the shampoo, because though my man has a very lovely round head, I'm not too sure I want to see it 24/7! Any shampoo recommendations? How about Lucky Tiger?

I use Tresemme, only because my wife buys it, but that seems to clean out the Sweet Georgia Brown quite well. When I want to wash my hair - about every 4-5 days - I just scrub my hair with water under the shower and leave it gloop-free for a day, then wash it with shampoo the next day. I never bother trying to wash out pomade that has been applied the same day.

The feminine good smelling shampoos usually don't clean all the pomade out of the hair. I think it's pretty natural to loose hair when you shampoo, but when you think about, if you're using some thick product to style your hair that doesn't wash out without "scrubbing" your hair that can't be all that good. When I try to get all the pomade out of my hair with shampoo I noticed more hair falling out during the shampoo process. When your hair is wet it's at it's weakest and it's going to break anyway, so the last thing you want to do is be scrubbing away at it. But if you leave the pomade in your hair it's going to block up your pours on your head. Obviously this doesn't ring true for everyone I know some people who have had the same Murray's in their hair for months and have the thickest heads of hair. But if you've got weaker hair, or thinning hair, the process of applying pomade and washing it out cannot be all that healthy. Which goes back to the idea of, if you're going to loose your hair, you're going to loose it. None of those treatments really work 100% and from the research I've done on a few of them there are sometimes sexual side effects.

Speaking of sideburns, all I think you need to do is clean them up a bit and make them a bit thinner. My boyfriend has VERY long sideburns, but he keeps them very neat and I think they add a lot to his hairdo.

Here's his pomp:

How old is he? His hair looks pretty thick to me. Looks a bit like Robert Williams.

If you want to get a good portion out with just shampoo (and not other drastic means), may I suggest a daily clarifying shampoo. Suave makes a decent one. It won't get it all out, but it will certainly minimize the build-up.

He's only 20, but that photo was from this summer. He's only started to look a bit thin on top in the past month or two.

He does shampoo his hair EVERYDAY, which I think is a bit unnecessary. I'm going to give him some of my Dove Intense Moisture Shampoo that my roommate switched to after Head & Shoulders started causing her hair to fall out.

I hope it works, and thanks for all of your help gentlemen!

Hair Loss

Most hair loss is genetic, some guys are programmed to lose it due to the extra male chromasome thingy.

But some hair loss is envioronmental, a reaction to outside influences just like being either allergic or intolerant of some chemicals. For some these items are no problem to others it's bad news.

I had hair loss from stress, a combo of very stressful things on my plate such as job problems, moving, house buying, mom problems which all totalled up to my body producing hormones out of wack and my hair coming out in patches!!!! That was pretty traumatic to me and just added to the stress. Went to the doc and he said calm down, you will get thru it and the hair will come back. It did and it did, but there are areas that are still thin to my eye.

I get a winter itch and a flaky scalp in the winter so i like to use coal or pine tar based shampoos like the neutragena stuff and either Packers Pine tar Soap or Grandpa's pine Tar Soap along with it. Both tend help skin conditions, too.

I have Crew Polmade but use it only once in a while to get a certain look with my buzz cut. (Butch wax anyone?)

When you use these hair dressings or conditioners a lot, it can build up and the Stripping type shampoos can clean them more thoroughly. Suave, Prell or Herbal Essence Shampoos WITHOUT conditioner built in are powerful shampoos. Detergent wise they are second only to dishwashing detergent (Like Dawn) and stronger than laundry detergent.

Still if your hair is weak for any reason, using strong hair aids shampoos and vigorous scrubbing is a receipe for more hair loss. So be gentle kind caring and nurturing to your hair, you probaly don't want it to fall out because of somethong you did. One of the Love Boat actors, the Captain lost his hair when they spray painted it for a school play he was in. Paint out, hair gone!

Oh my! Hahah! Luckily my boyfriend quit bleaching and dying his hair crazy colors years ago (except for his "green period" 2 years ago). I've heard of kids using stuff like super glue to keep their mohawks up. Maybe the reason why there are skinhead punks is because all their hair fell out from the dying & gluing!
